The New York Times Closes Down its sports desk and will rely on The Athletic for future daily coverage, insisting no jobs will be lost

The New York Times announced plans Monday to disband its sports department.

Online and print coverage of teams and games now will come exclusively from The Athletic, the website purchased by the newspaper for $550 million in cash in January 2022.

The New York Times' sports staff includes more than 35 journalists and editors. The Athletic has a staff of some 400 writers covering more than 200 professional sports teams.

No layoffs are planned and journalists from the Times' sports desk will move to other roles in the newsroom, the newspaper said.

The Athletic had more than 3 million paying subscribers as of March 2023, according to the Times.

But The Athletic has gone through a period of tough times as well - having laid off about 20 writers and editors last month in a transition away from being able to provide coverage for every sports team it can.

Only morons would think that The View has anything to do with journalism or the media. It's a TV talk show, nothing more. There are a hundred crazy right-wing outlets--podcasts, radio shows, christian zombie shows--with imbeciles talking nonsense 24/7.
That’s sexist

The Post-Tucker Blues: Fox News Stock Downgraded as Viewership Nosedives

Wells Fargo downgraded Fox Corporation stock on Monday as Fox News’s viewership continues to decline.

In May, ratings for the news outlet took a significant dive after host Tucker Carlson left the network, according to Breitbart News.

“During its 8 p.m. hour, the network has dropped from a three million viewer average to a 1.65 million viewer average since the departure of Tucker Carlson,” the article said.

Now, Wells Fargo has deemed the corporation Underweight, and Yahoo! Finance reported Monday that analyst Steve Cahall said there were “ecosystem risks” surrounding the news outlet.

President Joe Biden’s administration wants stronger measures to test the safety of artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT before they are publicly released, though it hasn’t decided if the government will have a role in doing the vetting. The U.S. Commerce Department on Tuesday, April 11, said it will spend the next 60 days fielding opinions on the possibility of AI audits, risk assessments and other measures that could ease consumer concerns about these new systems. The Associated Press (AP) said Thursday that it had reached a deal with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI to license AP’s archive of news stories to help train the artificial intelligence company’s systems.

Google pitches 'unsettling' AI news-writing tool dubbed 'Genesis' to the New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal

Google is exploring using artificial intelligence tools to write news articles and is pitching news organizations on using AI to assist journalists, the tech giant has confirmed.

Google did not name the publishers it has spoke with, but has held discussions with the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal's owner News Corp and others, the Times itself reported on Wednesday.

The AI journalism tool is called 'Genesis' internally at Google, and some newspaper executives who saw the pitch described it as 'unsettling,' the Times reported, adding the executives asked not to be identified.

Fox News Whistleblowers Reveal Company’s Support of Satanists, Abortionists, and Left-Wing Charities: Blaze Media

Fox News, the purported conservative cable news network, matches employee donations to numerous left-wing charities and activist groups, according to a report from Blaze Media.

While putting on airs of supporting conservative causes, Fox will apparently match employee charitable contributions to the Satanic Temple, the Trevor Project, Planned Parenthood, and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), insider sources told Blaze Media.

The Trevor Project runs anonymous online forums where children can get advice from adults on their gender and sexuality — in September of last year a Brooklyn, New York, mom found out her child was getting advice from adults on where to secretly obtain a chest binder.

The SPLC is a left-wing watchdog organization which targets conservatives and has characterized parental rights groups as extremists and bigots.

Fox employees may contribute through “Fox Giving,” a company app that facilitates charitable donations.

The network allegedly matches donations up to $1,000 of companies that meet their criteria.

Fox’s internal donation policy states that the company will not match or provide donations to organizations that “discriminate on the basis of a personal characteristic or attribute, including, but not limited to, age, disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity characteristics or expression, marital status, … pregnancy or medical condition either in its selection of recipients of the organization’s services, funds, or other support; in delivery of services; or in its employment practices.”

“I watched this source physically log in to their company portal at Myfox.okta.com to confirm the giving app and to see some of the questionable charities and donation match option for myself to verify nothing was photoshopped,” said Blaze Media director of programming Rikki Ratliff-Fellman.

Ex-CNN boss Jeff Zucker Publicly Holds Hands with Married CNN host Alisyn Camerota as they LEAVE Don Lemon's Hamptons bash - moments before his current girlfriend Allison Gollust exits party

Ex-CNN boss Jeff Zucker was spotted leaving Don Lemon's ritzy Hamptons party holding hands with a married CNN anchor - despite his girlfriend being at the bash.

Alisyn Camerota, 57, beamed as she walked hand-in-hand with Jeff on Saturday. Zucker's lover Allison Gollust, 50, who already cost him his executive job at the media company last year, was seen leaving on her own.

The mother-of-three, who currently hosts CNN Tonight at 10pm, lives with her husband Tim Lewis, 57, a partner at a private equity firm, in Connecticut.

It's unclear why two-time Emmy Award nominee Camerota was getting cozy with Jeff Zucker. But this is not the first time he has done so with a CNN colleague.

EXCLUSIVE: CNN Staffers Slam 'fame-thirsty' Alisyn Camerota's 'tacky' Hand-Holding with Jeff Zucker at Don Lemon's Hamptons party that was like a 'dejected soiree' for Network Casualties

CNN staffers have slammed Alisyn Camerota for what they call a 'tacky' stunt over the weekend - holding hands with her old boss Jeff Zucker while leaving a party hosted by disgraced former colleague Don Lemon.

On Saturday, she emerged from Lemon's home in Sag Harbor holding hands with Zucker, who remains in a relationship with Allison Gollust, who was also at the party.

Their cozy departure was captured by DailyMail.com exclusively. Gollust, Zucker's girlfriend, left the same party alone five minutes after them.

Sources claimed to Page Six that there is nothing to photos of them together, and that Jeff and Alisyn are just 'old friends'.

Network insiders today told DailyMail.com that while that may be the case, it was an 'inappropriate' and 'disrespectful' stunt from Alisyn, especially given all of the turmoil at the flailing news brand over the last year.

Nolte: Report – ‘CNN Leadership Unhappy’ With Kaitlan Collins and Her Dismal Ratings

Kaitlan-Collins-640x480.jpg

The latest reporting from inside CNN, the basement-rated fake news outlet that will almost certainly be sold for parts within the next few years, suggests that the outlet’s leadership is not pleased with Kaitlan Collins, nor with the ratings of The Source.

CNN should’ve listened to me. After all, my advice is as insightful as it is free. Nurse Ratched was never going to succeed as an anchor, much less a prime-time anchor, much less the 9:00 p.m. anchor. Collins has all the appeal of a first wife, so why put her directly against MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Monday nights and Alex Wagner Tuesday through Friday nights?

Collins is a left-wing extremist with zero charm. Maddow and Wagner are equally left-wing but more pleasant to spend time with.

Puck reported that The Source “has shown little substantive growth” since its inception in early June and that Collins “draws roughly a third of the audience that Rachel Maddow and Alex Wagner average on MSNBC.”

“Other CNN insiders reportedly questioned how long Collins can remain in the 9 p.m. timeslot,” continues the report.
