Just said on Sports Center that this years WR draft class is "okay"...I know we're all biased here, but really? Just "okay?" I find it very hard to look at CP and Justin Hunter and dude from WV and say this class is just okay. How does Mel Kiper make any money being an analyst?

He's always been an idiot. I don't take him seriously, and no one else should either.

CP and Hunter have some question marks around them as NFL WR's. He's likely saying there aren't many #1 WR's this year

He might just be referring to the ratio of good WR's to the needs of certain NFL teams.

I don't know, but it kinda makes sense.

I have to agree with him here, there is no Megatron or AJ Green this year. Every wr in the draft has major question marks and/or baggage. The best are Quinton Patton and Da'Rick imo.

I know people don't want to hear it, but Kiper's right. It's a particularly mediocre class of receivers. CP is full of potential but could easily fail to develop if he can't grasp the intricacies of the game. Hunter has been inconsistent about catching the ball. Tavon Austin looks like a very skilled slot receiver and return specialist. Patterson would likely be an early second round guy jn a strong class because he's raw. It is just the truth.

Anyone that listens to Kiper is a fool. You will be totally mislead and make a dumb decision if taking his advice. The examples are overwhelming of his foolishness (maybe the largest was the hyping of Brady Quinn). What on earth did he see in Quinn to be swinging from the sack? Quinn lost every big game he was in while at ND. Kiper has to have a racket going with agents to over hype players draft status only to be on the payroll of agents representing the players.......

Why is he held to a high degree of respect when it comes to a draft expert? This dude swings and misses more than anyone!!!!!!!!!

You can use ad hominem all you want, but the fact of the matter is that he is correct this time.

Babe Ruth struck out alot also, but he was still successful.

My point is, that Mel Kiper gives his input on so many NFL prospects, that surely he will get his share of projections wrong.

Hunter is just okay. He has great size, speed and leaping ability. Everyone saw his many drops last year as well as diving at every opportunity to not get hit. He has to improve his hands and mental toughness.

CP has great potential, but he's not a great route runner, and he dropped some balls. Hunter has huge question marks. Austin could be the next Heyward Bey

I agree. Kiper is only in his 30th year of doing this as a draft analyst for ESPN. The connections that he has made with coaches, players, and scouts over that period of time are worthless. I prefer to get my information from the experts on Vol Nation who drive a beer truck for a living.

Both our receivers could have used a senior season, if (CP) develop as a receiver and (JH) would have gotten over the drops they both would have been top 15 easy.

With CP already projected to be taken around 22 - 25 pick it wouldn't make since for him to stay another year.

J. Hunter loosing his status because he has all of the numbers as an elite WR but scouts are saying it doesn't translate to file. Drops JH could have used another year to get over the injury.

MK is write because as they stand they are not elite WR

So you're saying Cam Newton won't be a great TE here?

Actual VN analysis.

Didnt Mel say that R. Wilson was gonna flop, and J. Gruden said he was gonna be good. They had a heated debate over him at the draft last year

CP is going to be in the hall of fame. He does things that no one has ever done with the ball in his hands. People are a little bit delusional. This may be a mediocre receiver class but that starts after Patterson. Patterson should be a top 5 pick. Can't imagine how anyone could draw a conclusion that Da'rick could hold his jock strap.

You don't have to know what your talking about when you have someone telling you what to think. Mel is as educated about football as most of us are. Just because someone does it for a living doesn't mean he's good at it. Look at Dooley and coaching.

Kiper may not always be right(nobody is), but I would believe him before Vol Nation homers, who only look at the world through orange tinted glasses.

Kiper is way better than Mcshay (Who likes to give three or four scenarios to cover all the bases), but look at it this way: all of the wide receivers in this draft have some questions about certain aspects of their game. Keenan Allen is a great possession reciever and looks NFL ready but they're knocking his speed. Tavon Austin is sick and arguably as good in the open field as CP, but they're knocking on his size. CP they have questions on route running discipline and hands, Hunter they are knocking on durability, size, and strength. The only guy they aren't really picking on too much is Patton out of La Tech but you could argue that he didn't play that great of competition except for aTm (He also showed out in senior bowl and pro day workouts).

The long and short of it is, there are no "studs" that just blow the scouts away this year. Defensively on the other hand, it is a really deep S, DB, and LB class IMHO. Not all-time obviously but there are some quality guys that will be asked to step in right away and fill some holes for some teams.

CP will be a stud in the NFL. Just looking at Hunter its hard not too see him having a long successful career in the NFL. But, Hunter did drop quite a few passes along the way in Knoxville so I can see why there is some talk about him being "overrated". I am by no means saying this means he'll do the same thing in the NFL. Just look at Julio Jones the guy couldn't catch a wide open pass to save his life in college and look at how his NFL career is going. GBO! Best of luck to all the Vols in this years draft.

Didn't Julio go for something like 80 and 1200 his junior year? Pretty good for a guy who can't catch a wide open pass to save his life. That's like double what CP did but nice comparison nonetheless I guess.
