Memorable SEC upsets....

It just dawned on me that he included LSU's 2001 victory over us in the SEC championship game and Auburn's 2001 victory over Florida, but, for some inexplicable reason, failed to mention our 2001 victory over Florida in the Swamp, a game in which we were 18-pt. underdogs (see Remembering Tennessee-Florida 2001 clash 10 years after 9/11 - Andy Staples - SI.com). Say what you will about rankings, perception of the two programs as relative equals at that time, or what the point spread should or should not have been, but considering the magnitude of that game, I certainly have to file that victory in the "memorable SEC upsets" category.

His knee was down. I just keep seeing that play over and over I will never forget that game ever. His knee was down

I agree. I remember saying"It won`t matter. We`ll stomp them." Well,I remember that white tight-end breaking free for a virtual Hail Mary as well. Sickening to recall that game. We`d have PLAYED FLA ST FOR THE NC! They would never have had a rematch of a season finale&rivalry game(Fla-FSU96 Fsu won like 28-24, the game where Spurrier whined about the defensive hits, especially on Danny Weurfell.)WE MISSED A SHOT AT NC IN 96! GO VOLS!

How about 04 when UGA was 4-0 and vols was 3-1. That day Ainge was a freshman for the ranked 17 Vols and beat the 3rd ranked UGA team @ their place 19-14.

Was it his knee? Thought he pert near sat down.

Maybe in another 15 years I'll have the stomach to rewatch it....maybe.

Toothless redneck destroys old oak trees. Major upset. The oak trees had a higher IQ.

I agree 100%. Biggest upset in my lifetime. I believe Mr. Updykes` Texas Highway Patrol training allowed the miraculous comeback. Cam and Johnny Fball got those bastuhds for us during our downward dool induced spiral. Go Vols!

So, what are you saying? That you hide behind other teams when Tennessee is down? You sound like some Bama fans from the Dubose and Shula days. "We can't beat you, but LSU can!" Pathetic. :bad:

No, I`m saying at least SOMEONE beat the bastuhds! We were pathetic the last 6 years, but ANY victory by a team from the South over damn bammer is a cause for celebration. You just have no realization of the intensity of the UT-UA rivalry to some of us fans. As the saying goes "I pull for Tennessee and whoever is playing Alabama." Go Vols!

Another good one was the 97 UGa-UFl game. The Bobo and Ward led Bulldogs pulled off a dramatic upset that, coupled with an earlier LSU vs Fla upset, propelled the 1 loss Vols into the SECCG and Bowl Alliance. Go Vols!

You must have been one sad little man one week after that crucial Aggie victory.

I don't think I've seen a happier group of people than the Georgia fans after that game.

As much as they dislike mike bobo as a coordinator, they can't get too mad at him
