Memphis - Cal State Northridge

This is not a Final Four team. Miss. State is not CS Northridge.

Your team doesn't have an offense to go back this year. If a sweet 16 or elite 8 is "fine" (to your standards this year) then I agree Memphis will be "fine".

The last 3 tourneys U of M has come out flat against the 15 and 16 seeds. don't think they covered any of these games. This team treats these first round games like CUSA games. Show up the last 10 and win it going away. When the name on the jersey is a BCS school or ranked team, there is typically a solid performance all the way around.

I predict you will see a domination up front tomorrow from Dozier and Taggart. Vasquez will be shut down by Anderson. Tigers by 15.

Don't care about how the wins come, just that they do.

Wolo (voice of the Tigers and largest homer in college basketball) said this morning that they supposedly stayed up until 2:30am or so messing around on Facebook. Not sure how that got "leaked" out but that is pretty late when you have an 11:30am game.

Luck haha , why do you think he plays for the TIGERS . There are several who can do what he did just biding their time . The other team played way over their head and still LOST !

:eek:lol:

I seriously hope you're kidding or you honestly must have some kind of mental handicap - and if so then I don't hold it against you. The kid averages FOUR POINTS PER GAME. FOUR. His previous career high was THIRTEEN. It's called a FLUKE. If the fluke had not occurred - then Memphis would have suffered one of the most embarrassing NCAAT loses in awhile.

If you honestly think anyone currently on the Memphis team will ever be able to hit 10 treys again then you know nothing about basketball. That's not what Memphis is about. Lol "just biding their time". LOL. Memphis is not a great 3-point shooting team. You got saved, admit it - FOUR points per game.

The only thing I've called was "luck" was the Anderson 40 foot shot before half-time, which it was - and Mr. 4ppg - which is just common sense on the 2nd one.

For someone who does not know this team you sure have a lot of inaccurate opinions. Roburt Sallie is the best shooter on this team. He has had a struggle picking up offense and playing with intesity Cal requires. Last 6 games he has played better defensively and has not been forcing shots. I know because I have seen it in person and don't go by just the stat sheets like you.

FYI, according to Dozier, Anderson, and the coach at Laurinburg, Sallie was the best player on that team. They were 40-0 and National Champs. So, you're right, he's probably just a fluke, not someone who has been out of BB for 2 years and has just started to "get it".

There's nothing to "get" about spotting up and shooting threes. The guy was trailing like Chism does and shot threes several times. It doesn't take time to learn the offense to be able to shoot a three. He was "forcing" shots that weren't good shots in the game - they just happened to go in this time. But I guess, to you, its not "forcing" or a bad shot in general if it goes in even if he's far out or not really that open.

You're a freakin' ridiculous homer. I can't believe you're trying to actually claim his performance was legit. Wow. Sallie is in no way, form, or fashion remotely as good as Anderson.

Keep trying to say his performance was "norm" - you all look like fools in the process. Chris Lofton never even hit 10 3's in one game.

And where did I say Sallie wasn't the best shooter on the team? I said Memphis isn't a good shooting team from outside, period. Scotty Hopson is Tennessee best 3-point shooter - that doesn't make him a great shooter though.

From what I could tell - you problem was your defense which has been the strong point all year. Next game, you won't have a freak performance by a role player to cover up the defensive effort IF they don't step it up on that end.

And this is a different team. They aren't FF caliber like the past two teams.

You can call me by new name Nostra-freakin-damus.

Sallie is the real deal. Unless you call 14 points another freak performance.

You're right, this is a different team. Same result - a beat down of an arrogant BCS school who runs their mouth.

Sanchez or what ever his name is probably has a few Merryland fans mad at him tonight .

Man our defense sucked again today , and the offense just seems to keep sputtering . Not being able to reach 100 points against an ACC team is almost embarrasing.:zeitung_lesen:

I think he was saying 10 3's in a game is a "freak" performance. And it is.

Vasquez and yea, he obviously should not have run his mouth.

Cal let off the gas in the last 5-8 minutes.

Memphis will be fine...Tyreke still has the flu and if you recall Memphis only won by 3 or so in Little Rock last year vs. Miss. State. and everthing worked just fine for the Tigers all but the last 2 mins. of the NCG. I will be willing to bet Cal will have this team ready Sat. I will say this team wasn't into the game today but like I said, Cal will have this team ready Sat. that's what great coaches do.

Thank you Coach Cal good win.

You're joking right?? Since when are a 14-point performance and 35-points performance (off of ten treys) anywhere CLOSE to each other? He's a role player and nothing more. His performance in the first round was a fluke. Not to mention this was a feast from the Memphis offense so everyone had decent numbers. Maryland made Florida's defense when we played them both times look good. Even USCjr's defense the second meeting.

But anyway - my goodness - talk about no defense. When you score 53 in a half (in the tourney) you know it's not good offense, but an abysmal defense. Memphis had more open looks in one half then they did all year, especially from 3 it seemed.

I picked Memphis to go out in the Sweet 16 - but looking at the bracket again Memphis has one of the easier roads match up wise. I think Missouri may not be able to match the physicality that Memphis will bring... they have two good forwards but we'll see - but Memphis will get spanked when they face a decent defense in Uconn (more credit to the way Uconn looks in the first 2 rounds) and a team that competes size wise. CSNR, Maryland, Mizzou (possibly), and Uconn has to be the easiest I'm guessing. Uconn looks really good right now - I figured with out Dyson they wouldn't make the FF but they look sharp.

This is the same stuff we heard all the way to the NC game last year.

This just in: YOU TEAM ISN'T CLOSE TO THE SAME AS LAST YEARS TEAM. Evans isn't half the player Rose was. Pierre Niles replacing Dorsey - I don't think so. How about Chris Douglas Roberts?

Last years team was a good offensive team. This years team has a very, very average offense with a great defense.

It doesn't have to be better than last years' team. Just the ones we are playing.

I've gotta a question. Which quarterback was and is a better player: Peyton Manning or Tee Martin? Which one led his team to the NC?

VERY GOOD POINT CAL

As far as our defense being great , you're right . I've always heard defense wins championships .:birgits_giggle:

That has to be one of the weakest attempts at an analogy I've ever seen.

Not only did last years Memphis squad have better talent - but they were also a better team.
