Memphis is getting Elliot Williams

So if a team has all black players the coach isn't racist, but if he has all white guys he is racist?

He said he's not calling him racist, although I guess you could argue there is an innate racist implication in any racial topic.

I think he was just say K was recruiting a certain archetype of player, that tended to be white.

And it's worth noting that Duke is a very "white" school.

I certainly think Coach K is in no way racist.

Aren't most colleges "white" schools?

Gotta respect him though. He and I are both members of the "We married way out of our league" club.

This weekend, I added another entry (two in my life, I would say) into the "banged way out of my league" club. And I mean WAAAY out of my league...like this girl causes car wrecks when she walks down the street. I had absolutely no business hooking up with this girl.

Duke is 81% white. I don't know what UT is, but I'm willing to bet it's pretty close to that.

That's actually about the same as Tennessee. But I wonder about African Americans as a percentage...

Regardless, your point is taken.

I agree. This is headed in the wrong direction quickly.

I agree too. We need not speak of racial breakdowns of the schools as if that is supposed to bear some sort of correlation with the basketball team.

I was just saying what coach K is doing is out of the ordinary. To be able to throw out the whitewash in competitive D-1 basketball is ridiculous.

The media would never touch this subject, though. Coach K has reached the uncriticizable level.

I just don't understand how a coach can be criticized for being able to put five white guys on the court at the same time.

There are "blackouts" in every game.

I love that kid.

EDIT: Uh oh. We have officially began discussing whitewashes and blackouts. This thread is going to go straight to hell in a hand basket. Made of tormented souls.

according to my english teacher, UT is high 70's in whiteness percentage

the difference is, duke has 81% white, and then a very substantial % asian, much more than UT does

i dont know what % of UT is black but i think it is around 10% or possibly as low as 7-8%

It was 10 % recently (like five years ago). The target is to get it to 15, and we are probably between 10 and 15 now.

And as you mentioned he was able to win the ACC Tourney even though he had enough guys to have a "whitewash."

So the media should criticize him for winning something with too many white guys?

When was the last time a team that could throw a whitewash on the court cut down the nets at the end of the year?

I look forward to your response.

If they make up 14% of the population then that's good.

I don't know so I'm asking, is there a push for other minorities as well?

You said Duke was still relevant because they won the ACC. If they are still relevant with a lot of white guys and win they conference tournament what is there to criticize?

Note: I'm using the standard you set for relevance.
