#3 player in 2009 according to Rivals, picked Memphis over Kansas

If they were able to snag John Wall away from Baylor too that would be a crazy sick duo.

It's just sad he gets the one and dones to come when the Tennessee - Memphis games are in Memphis, I'd love to see that type of talent in person at TBA.

UT-Memphis is going to be a top five rivalry this next decade in bball..
it could be the second funnest to watch behind Duke-UNC

Whether he is here for one year or two years, we need Hopson to be a lottery pick. Getting guys like him, Tyler, and Chism into the NBA will help us get more Top 10 players.

If they get Wall they would be the best team in the nation next year. That team has the potential to be better than last years.

Cal will have him shooting 41% from the line in no time.

Tennessee won't be playing Memphis in 5 years most likely.

.........and going to the Final Four, being drafted in the 1st round, and a seven figure salary. Tragic.

Only way series ends is if football ends. No offense, but if I had to choose I would rather play Carolina, Syracuse, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, etc. than the Vols. If the Tiger program wants long term to be considered with those elite BB programs, we need to be playing and beating them on a regular basis. Of course some won't play us.

Tyreke Evans is a special player. Not explosive like Rose, but smooth. Scores easily and inconspicously. You look up thinking he's scored 8 and he has 17. Also, by the time the Tigers get to TBA, Witherspoon should be budding into the star he is going to be.

Yeah, of course you would rather play elite teams than lose to a "good in-state team" in your own house on national TV.

Syracuse? No thanks. Who says Memphis HAS to drop UT in order to schedule Duke, UNC, UCLA, etc. The series will probably end because Cal wants it to end. Even being a season ticket holder for Tiger basketball, I don't want the UT-UM annual game to end. Both coaches have their respective programs going full force and having the atmosphere of that game in Memphis last season......how could a fan of either school NOT want that to continue? This is a subject I totally disagree with Cal on.

I'm a season ticket holder also. Last year the Gtown game was louder and had higher attendance than UT game. And it was an 11 AM tipoff. Heck, the Gonzaga game 3 years ago had a more raucous crowd than the UT game that year. I'm for a neutral site game that simulates the tournament, is easy to get to, and increases $$ to the U of M.

Memphis should not be playing any SEC schools in BB that will not play us home/home in football (see Arkansas and Mississippi) at least every other year. Our football program needs a shot in the arm attendance wise and $$ wise.

Syracuse has a ton more tradition and success than UT. They've one a NC and been to 3 Final Fours. Usually a guarantee for the Big Dance 4 out 5 years. And a classy coach.

Yes I would. You see, Memphis is chasing the blue bloods of BB (UCLA, Kentucky, Duke, Gtown,Carolina, Kansas) and is competitive. Don't need a second rate program nipping at our heels while we're trying to catch the big boys.

Also, time to return the favor from the 80s. Remember when the Vols wouldn't play the Tigers back in the Kirk years. Series record would be quite different if Defoe hadn't chickened out. If you remember, the series was mysteriously restarted after we went on probation.

Memphis is decades away from even coming close to catching the elite teams of the sport. You definitely aren't going to do it just by playing a couple of those teams in the regular season.
