Memphis lands Xavier Henry

First of all who cares about this thread? Move this to the Tiger High board if you have one. Bottom line is no
CDR and Rose equals early exit in tourney and another A....... whipping in TBA!

Tiger High = 3 Final Fours.
UT = 0 Final Fours, O Elite 8s.

1/10th of the athletic budget of the Vols yet still more success.

BP as coach equals another Sweet 16 exit. Just can't get it done when it matters.

Still conversing with fans of a second-rate basketball program, I see.

Feigning arrogance when you're actually jealous and/or concerned makes you the worst kind of tool. No reasonable Vols fan will diminish the strong basketball history that Memphis has, but your delusions of grandeur are rather entertaining.

Kind of strange. The name of this thread, and then getting beat by Xavier. Must have been a good game. Wish I had seen it. Xavier must have a good team as usual.

Memphis has zero offense, until they find somebody that can score atleast 10 points in a game they will struggle. Maybe they will lose every game, we can only hope!

Until Tyreke Evans learns not to shoot low percentage shots, this Memphis team isn't going to really dominate anybody IMO.

I took a gander over at the Memphis board(which I would recomend to every one memphistigers.org, they really hate UT and it is fun to pick on them) and they are wanting him benched now. 3 months ago he was the next Jordan and now they want him sitting beside Willie Kemp on the pine poney.

Everyone of them should be shot. Cal will have Evans where he needs to be by Jan.

Not conceding, just realistic. Not like the Vol fans who think their team, who has never advanced past a Sweet 16, is suddenly going to win the NC because they beat UTC, UTM, and MTSU.
Realistic, really? What are YOUR realistic goals for the Tigers this year? Conference losses, overall losses and how far into the tourney?

Same folks who said in past that Wagner, Rose, Henry were coming are saying the same about Wall.
Who are these "same folks"? Not saying it won't happen, just curious.

Agreed. Evans was supposed to bring that offense but he is terribly inconsistent right now. Lucky for them, their defense is very strong.

Memphistigers.org is unbelievably homerific. Even if you come in there with a neutral thought or idea that isn't typed with a Tiger blue keyboard, you get banned or the post gets deleted.

I hope so, I am just starting to have some doubts. I really don't see him being a one and done at this point.

More success = 0 NCAA championships... Of any sort?

Having watched two Memphis games on TV, Tyreke Evans better grow up quick or Memphis is in for a rough season. Based on all the hype about the kid, I have been completely underwhelmed at his court awareness, shot selection, decision making, and defensive effort so far. Not a good start.

Tyreke is a great player. His problem is he is used to being the only talent on the floor. He has got to learn to trust his teammates. Seen him too many times this year not pass the ball on two on one fast breaks. Used to seeing the ball passed 3 times once they cross half court on 2 on 1. Roburt Sallie is a real player and I'm scratching my head on why he isn't being used more. Offense seems to flow more with him on the floor. Offense seems to bog down with Tyreke - lack of movement, passing, weave, etc. Not ready to bench Tyreke, just needs to trust more in his mates.

Realistically, Tigers could lose 1-2 conference games. at UAB and at UTEP. Team is young and will have to figure out how to win on the road. Don't see this team blowing out a lot of people. Hope I'm wrong. Wouldn't be suprised to see 5-6 total loses this year. Sweet 16 would tickle me to death. I can't explain it, it's just a feeling I have. Been watching this team for 30 years. Last year, I went to a practice open to the booster club and came away thinking Final Four guaranteed. Anything less would be a disappointment. Anything more, gravy. This year, not so much. With injuries, waiting on Clearinghouse, just feels different this year.

AAU coach "in the know" saying so about Wall. Hasn't been wrong too many times in last 6-7 years.

Tyreke will be fine. D. Rose called Cal a week or so ago and told Cal to remember that he went though the same thing when he started, it just takes a little time, he will come around. The problem with Sallie is he needs to be tough when he is rebounding the ball. That is why Cal pulled Sallie from the last game because he made a 3 shot and then went to the other end after a player missed a shot the other player out worked Sallie for the ball and Cal told him thats not going to work here at Memphis and he was out of the game. Sallie is one hell of a player, but this isnt JC. Camp Cal starts Dec. 15th. in Jan this team should look alot better. PS...Witherspoon looks very good for a young player, he will be a good one.
