The bottom line on Carney is quite simple. He didn't do anything in high school to merit either of the major schools in his home state, or anyone else in the Big 10 or the then still viable C-USA, offering him a scholarship. He went to Memphis. At the end of his time there, he was a first round pick. Those facts speak for themselves.

I guees you'll have to tell that to Gene Keady who personally told Cal to evaluate him during his junior year.. Purdue would have gotten him had they not been short on schollies.. Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma also recruited him pretty hard. But your right, he didn't do anything to merit interest from those schools.. I guees being the Indianapolis Player of the Year and averaging 21 and 13 means nothing to the player he was in high school.

Just don't act like Cal is the main reason he's in the NBA right now. Your first post seemed to suggest he was a high school scrub that Cal turned into a superstar. And that is definitely not the case with Carney..

Given the absolute garbage Keady had on scholarship at the end of his tenure at Purdue, the fact he didn't make room for Carney also speaks for itself. He obviously didn't think much of him if he was happy with guys who were losing 18-20 games a year for him.

When Keady told him there may not be room due to his early committs, Carney said no and moved on. Indiana, Oklahoma, Memphis, and Kentucky eventually offered Carney during the process before choosing Memphis.

Proving again that Keady didn't think much of him. If he didn't dispose of some of the roster refuse he had then, he obviously didn't think much of Carney. Remind me again of all the great accomplishments the players Keady took instead of Carney had. Also, given the tremendous number of NBA players produced by Mike Davis, Gene Keady, and Kelvin Sampson, I'm sure Rodney would have thrived under their guidance. Why, he could have been the next Bracey Wright, Chad Austin, or Hollis Price. Remind me again what teams they're playing for now.

also those teams like utep and smu played that game like it was their championship game...imagine...tigers get that everytime they play those wannabees...to deny they're good is laughable....but being great in the top 5?? laughable as well....just like pearl ball tho...its fun to watch
