Memphis escapes Tenn St this afternoon 91-86

Tigers came painfully close to losing Tarik Black for the UT game today. Black was ejected after leaving the bench when a scuffle broke out late in the game. Apparently, since he did not participate in the fight (asst coach caught him just before) he will not be suspended.

Apparently Witherspoon tossed Pastner around during the fight. I'm curious to see how that's handled.

Just got in from the game, this team over looked Tenn St. and maybe should have lost this game but my thing is the old lady getting tossed out by the refs, wow..lol. Not sure what she said to them because I was on the other side, but they told her to leave and they made her.

Tarik's game is comming around very well and losing him for the UT game would have been huge, because Coleman's game is eleswhere this season it seems.

A month ago, I'd have said UT would beat this Memphis team by 10 points. Now I'll be shocked if Bruce's Shame comes within 20 points of the Tigers. It isn't because my opinion of Memphis has changed...

Memphis is bad, they have escaped these home games with mid-majors.

tarik black is out for u t game, just announced. can't even leave the bench in the event of a fight ,they said. probably won't matter.

Announced where?

That is not correct. Leaving the bench results in an ejection only IF you don't participate in the scuffle.

Exactly. These teams don't like each other. Each will be up for the other. We can take down giants and we can lose to the worst. I'm sure we'll have a good game plan and I'm sure that we'll be motivated. They will too, on both counts.

If TN decides to play defense like they did leading up too Pitt, they could win going away. Failing to destroy them in the paint, would be unacceptable IMO.

The team that shoots the 3 ball better wins this IMO.

This will be the first game I've attended since the opening game in '08. Sure hope playing a rivalry game livens the team up a little. Have to admit I'm pretty worried about this one.

Being in Memphis, half of the fans think they'll come into TBA and beat us. The knowledgeable half believe that both of our teams are overrated ,and that this game could go either way. I surely hope our boys will be up to playing Memphis. I'm hopeful that since we're playing a big opponent at home, our boys will come to play.

Its going to be an interesting game. I cant see both teams showing up with their best game. One team will inevitable show up lethargic like we both have been the last month.

As far as squeaking past Tenn St yesterday. I was at the game. They put on a shooting display (75% from 3 pt and 90% from the line). Most of those shots were contested but they didnt miss. Their center made three contested triples in the contest as well. They will be a force in the OVC and theyre already 3-1
