Memphis to forfeit all wins from 2007-2008

I know some are not Bruce Pearl fans.
Some claim they do not like him because he is a "snitch".

However, to claim you don't like a coach due to their moral character, but you are huge fan of Cal is hypocrisy at its finest.

What a sleeze and cheat. The only bright side to this is that it will happen to Kentucky. Can't wait for that to happen!

And the comments at the bottom were pretty humurous.

I'm not seeing how getting a kid into school is a huge breach of any morals or anything. It's not like Cal is out there smashing coeds, paying for abortions after knocking girls up, ..etc

The question around town today is how the Darrell Arthur situation at Kansas and the Rose deal at Memphis are different.
If Memphis holds on to the lead in San Antonio, Kansas is the one having the press conference today.

On a side note, Paul Dee being the Chair of the Committee On Infractions is akin to Bernie Madoff being in charge of the Federal Reserve.

The only important portion of that report to me is the exoneration of John Calipari. The fact that Memphis chose to cower before the 'AA instead of fight doesn't matter to me. I just can't wait til RC tries to hit up the guys off that squad for money. They'll get the same reaction UC did when they tried to panhandle Kenyon Martin after hanging Huggs out to dry.

So dam* the luck this would happen to both of his programs. I guess he has just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Until the 'AA produces evidence to the contrary, he's no more culpable for these alleged violations than I am.

The 'AA Committee On Infractions said OU had to vacate all the wins Rhett Bomar and JD Quinn played in during the '05 season. The Sooners appealed. Remind me how that turned out.

I don't understand why in two other threads on here everyone is talking about how ridiculous the NCAA is, but in here everyone is acting like they are righteous sword of God.

They're mafia, all the way around. Instead of smirking when they're coming down on rivals and crying when it's us, we should at least be consistent.

Be careful starting your car tonight. You just seriously insulted the mafia.

Cal may be "slimy" , but Rose was cleared to play by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Any coach in America would have played him.

I can see your point IP.

However - I think some (or at least myself) are seeing more "evidence" to lend support to the fact that Cal is a sleaze.

Yes - The NCAA is a joke. They do not even try to hide their favoritism and biased views. However, this thread just lends support that Cal is an unethical cheat of a coach who leaves programs in trouble.

I'm not saying the AA got it right or wrong on this. But there is obviously something there that just lends to the character of CAL

I see what you are saying, Panda. But the NCAA has no oversight, and has no check. It's a body that is corrupt at worst and deeply, deeply flawed at best. Because of that, I can't trust anything they do, even if it is a coach with a "track record." At the end of the day, it's a track record of that corrupt body's engineering. It's impossible to say with certainty what is actually going on with that coach.

I wouldn't trust a crooked or unfair cop's word on what happened during an arrest at a traffic stop, when they've proven to have been in the wrong repeatedly in the past.

^^This^^..

I don't think so. Memphis would just be the first school to have a vacated title. NCAA doesn't want a non-BCS school to hold the season wins record, much less a NC.

RC Johnson has no sack if he doesn't appeal and ask the question, "How is this different than Darrell Arthur?" Ineligible is ineligible, regardless of the circumstances. Kinda like being pregnant. Doesn't matter how, just that you are.

Second paragraph I can see. First one is more fitting with your usual silliness.

They'd much rather have a champion from outside the big six leagues than take the PR hit of telling the public the culmination of a season was a sham.

People are missing the part of the report that has coaches across the country concerned. The 'AA went out of their way to make it known Rose took his questionable SAT in Detroit. The Motor City public schools have long been to standardized test fraud what Las Vegas casinos were to money laundering in the '60s. If they choose to pursue that angle, there are going to be a whole bunch of programs having sleepless nights.

Not to mention WWWes lives in Detroit and arranged said test for Mr. Rose.

Detroit became the Capital Of Academic Corruption for college athletics when WWWes was in still selling shoes in Camden, NJ. Google "Vic Adams and Daniel Lynton." That'll get you started.

So you're denying that Wes had any hand in the fourth SAT test Derrick took while he happened to be in Detroit as a guest of WWWes to watch the Pistons/ Bulls game?

I don't know and I don't care what Wes did or didn't do with regards to Derrick Rose's SAT. If you don't have people in positions of authority in the DPS system actively participating, the fraud never occurs.

The fraud isn't on Calipari's hands because he gets people like Wes to get the job done and makes sure to tell them "I don't want to know anything about it"... That way he can skate to Memphis, Lexington or whatever his next stop might be.

So? I have a word I use to describe people who are able to manipulate the system to their benefit. Brilliant.
