I see what you are saying, Panda. But the NCAA has no oversight, and has no check. It's a body that is corrupt at worst and deeply, deeply flawed at best. Because of that, I can't trust anything they do, even if it is a coach with a "track record." At the end of the day, it's a track record of that corrupt body's engineering. It's impossible to say with certainty what is actually going on with that coach.
I wouldn't trust a crooked or unfair cop's word on what happened during an arrest at a traffic stop, when they've proven to have been in the wrong repeatedly in the past.
The only important portion of that report to me is the exoneration of John Calipari. The fact that Memphis chose to cower before the 'AA instead of fight doesn't matter to me. I just can't wait til RC tries to hit up the guys off that squad for money. They'll get the same reaction UC did when they tried to panhandle Kenyon Martin after hanging Huggs out to dry.
The 'AA Committee On Infractions said OU had to vacate all the wins Rhett Bomar and JD Quinn played in during the '05 season. The Sooners appealed. Remind me how that turned out.
Memphis could have been far more aggressive on the front end here. The fact RC Johnson wasn't publicly asking what the difference between this situation and Darrell Arthur and Corey Maggette affairs every 15 minutes since early May shows he's a spineless simpleton. The only way to deal with the 'AA is to go right at them. You can only appeal after the penalty. They are now appealing the ruling.
Memphis Tigers found guilty by NCAA; must vacate 2007-08 basketball season, will appeal : GoMemphisTigers : Your leading source for The University of Memphis Tigers

Politics is a distant runner-up to having a child...as you well know.
I may be re-energized to post more during football season b/c of Kiffin - I love rooting for a UT team coached by a guy I could've gone to school with. I SO hope he wins a lot.
BTW, the BBQ place you recommended in Rogers/Bentonville was pretty damn tasty (I forget the name). And that's a big compliment coming from a guy whose last two stops were in Central TX and the Piedmont of NC.
I don't think RC is too far off base (for once) with retrieving Cal's bonus for that year.
I am thinking AA/Dozier would not sue the NCAA (though legally they can). McGrady should just for S&G though.
Yep, I will scan by George's show to see if he has anyone worthwhile on (worthwhile enough for me to stand listening to GL). I heard RC was going to be on so I wanted to see if Geoff Calkins article would be brought up. I was disappointed in that regard. You probably heard the same interview I heard. It sounded to me that AA/Dozier wouldn't have to do anything in the lawsuit other than agree to have their name on the paper. Apparently legal support for Memphis is coming out of the woodwork on this one.

Yeah, that's a brilliant idea. Take the position that the games never happened. I guess everyone who purchased a ticket to a Memphis game in '07-'08 can expect a refund check from good ole RC.I don't think RC is too far off base (for once) with retrieving Cal's bonus for that year.
