This is from Dec 2016:

▪ UK has agreed to an annual base lease payment of $1.9 million to Lexington Center. That payment will increase by 2.4 percent each year.

▪ UK will pay Lexington Center $4.75 million each year for media rights.

▪ Lexington Center will receive 15 percent of merchandise sales and will be paid a not-yet-decided amount for parking.

▪ Lexington Center has agreed to add four club suites to Rupp Arena and to change roughly 10,584 upper-level seats from benches to chair-back seats. The cost of those changes will not exceed $15 million.

Well that tells us a lot. Kentucky spends 12 mil more than us but all that difference goes to coaches and Rupp. Interesting to say the least

Does it break out UK's player salaries? Or is that listed in the "misc" category, which would be the largest category?

My guess is that a lot of these schools that are "football" schools have a lot of costs that are covered by football and basketball avoids footing the bill.

Couple head-scratchers though. FSU and Texas. Are both those programs starting to pump more money into hoops than in years past? Is Rick Barnes buyout adding to Texas's numbers or something?

I wonder how much travel affects these expenses? WV plays B12 Teams in Tx, OK, and Plains states and they are way up at #29; Mizzou and Arky up there too 17 & 21 too.

Just an honest question here. When has anyone ever thought that UT actually spent too LITTLE on something?

Me. Pretty much always.

We go dumpster diving for coaches all the time. Dollar store Dave Hart pinched pennies the whole time he was here.

Clearly the AD could and should double the amount they spend. It's really ridiculous that they don't when you consider how much revenue the AD generates.

I’m saying we should commit to being as good as we can be at basketball. I felt like we barely tried until pearl arrived and started winning. We haven’t tried since. Now Barnes is here and doing well. Let’s spend.

OK. I'm dense on this subject. It's basketball. We already have the biggest arena in the SEC. (don't we?) The players need new shoes? I'll betcha if we run deep in the tournament, Nike or somebody will be along with a nice fat contract and brand new shoes for everybody. New uniforms? New nets on the goals? Weight room? Sauna? Hookers and blow?

Oh, I know. We could build a ski lodge like UK had years ago for the players dorm.

Or is it that you are just out of blue font?

Seriously. Help me out here. Spend money on what?

When our head coach is accidentally taking a violation to give bonuses to his assistants, we should be paying assistants more.
