That's great news. The Vols had terrible luck with Baugh's injuries; had she been healthy, she would have been an All America. Now, Russell and Graves--who's a bruiser, along with Harrison, who is talented, will give UT a formidable front court.

Thanks for the link vol72. Russell's decision shows how big she really is in light of all the changes and some uncertainty surrounding the program. Now, hopefully Scaife and Davis will join her and Tucker in what could be the best recruiting haul of the year.

That is great news!!!! Something positive on the Hill. Looking forward to watching the Lady Vols this year and I can't wait to see Russell play next year.

Memo to Lockwood: Teach Russell how to establish position in the low block, catch the ball turn and shoot--ball up high when you shoot; or pivot one way with ball in low block, then quickly reverse pivot and shoot. No dribbling; ball up higher. Very basic, easy to learn, very effective for a 6'5" player.

Now we need Austin Nichols to committ to the men's team and we are all set for next year's run for Men and Women's National Titles.

Looks as if CHW is passing the recruiting test. Outstanding. I expect to see a really competitive team from her this year. Next year should be very i interesting.

Now I am in love with her....as a result of her last comment

"With Russell choosing Tennessee over her other finalist, Louisville, her focus now shifts to a potential championship three-peat in the State of Oregon and possibly a little recruiting of her own.

“I’m definitely going to try and get a couple of those players to come with me,” Russell said of the laundry list of players considering the Lady Vols."

Kaela Davis will follow suit. With Russell on the list, her parents will get her to hop that bandwagon.

I really hope she picks Tennessee for herself as well as the program because she will be a media magnet much like Candace Parker is and she will get twice as much or more with TENNESSEE vs what she would with Louisville. She deserves the attention she will receive here!

How good is she? Is she really comparable to Candace?

She is good enough to be the # 1 recruit in the Nation. I would expect she is in the same class as Candace, but a different style player. I think we will have the players @ 1 and 2 that we don't need anyone like MR to play those positions.

No knock on Russell but based on video I've seen she's nothing close to another Parker, but then Parker was one of the best college players ever. And of course I'm comparing a young woman still in high school with Parker in college, so that's worth considering. She doesn't need to be another Parker--just good!

If you want the women's basketball program to get back where it needs to be...just write Matthew Mitchell a check. Until then...ehhh...

No, thank you. We have our coaching staff, and we have winners.

Pat Summitt hand picked our coach, and I do not trust anyone in coaching more than I trust Pat Summitt.

DarthVol, are you the same idiot that that was hounding Russell and Mavunga on Twitter?

Our targets were/are Tucker (committed), Russell (committed), Davis, Scaife, Reynolds, Harper (Kentucky, not surprising), Cooper, and Henderson (Louisville).

Reynolds is probably going to decide this week. Keep your fingers crossed. :) She has visited UT, Louisville, Ohio State, and I can't remember who else.

Cooper has supposedly been a UCLA lean for a while, but then I just read an article recently of Duke and Texas A&M being the front runners. I don't think she'll come to UT to play behind Russell (just like I didn't see Henderson playing behind her), and I'm not sure she'll go to Duke with Odom just committing. Her other school is Arizona State. I think she'll either go to UCLA or Texas A&M.

Scaife is probably Rutgers-bound. Ohio State could be her second pick. I would be surprised if she came to UT.

We will see with Kaela. I don't particularly feel confident with her but her recruitment has been the strangest in the history of this program so nothing would be surprising.

I've seen her play a lot and she is already very effective at doing that. If she needs anything it is more physical strength.

I only mention the bit about posting low, pivoting and shooting--no dribbling--because I frankly think that UT's bigs have been slow to develop their offensive games. Glory Johnson was a great athlete and yet never really developed basic post moves until her senior season. Anosike never did. (Granted, Glory was more a 4 (power forward) than a center.) Baugh was also more a 4 than a 5--she always wanted to dribble the ball in the paint, which created problems.
