Metal, revisited

Love them or hate them (and a lot of people do) Avenged Sevenfold puts on a damned good show. I've seen them three times.

PS Dillinger Escape Plan's ex-drummer, Chris Pennie, is now with Coheed And Cambria. Guy is beyond ridiculous on the kit.

Normally I'm not big on Brit metal, but BFMV is pretty good. Not great, but good.

The album I'm listening to right now:

From Autumn To Ashes - Holding a Wolf by the Ears

The opening track, "Death Kult Social Club" is a punch in the face and I love it.

Yeah I like both A7X and From Autumn to Ashes

I can't stand all the dime a dozen metalcore bands there are out there today.

I like From Autumn to Ashes but they are on a indefinite hiatus so they are likely done since their current singer who used to be the drummer started a new band called Warship who is pretty good but not much like ATA. I've seen Dillinger Escape Plan twice and they were incredible when I saw them at the Valarium but they dont do as good on a big stage because I saw them at Warped Tour about a month later and ended up leaving the set to go see another band. The band I am big on right now is Trivium who I saw about a month ago in concert. I also like Bring Me the Horizon, HeavyHeavyLowLow and some bands like that. Both Norma Jean, and The Chariot are long time favorites but Norma Jean is losing a step and The Chariot have gone silent for a little bit and Josh Scrogin the lead singer replaced the band again.

Am I allowed to bump this? Rather than just making a new thread.

I listen to a lot of everything, but at the moment I'm playing stuff like this:

Deathcore that (IMO) isn't so generic and doesn't suck.

Speaking of metal....kinda. Has anyone listened to the new Metallica/Lou Reed album Lulu?

What a trainwreck, even considering it's not supposed to be a "regular" album.

Metallica has been a train wreck their entire career. Not saying they didn't make some good music in the 80s, but they're just a dysfunctional band.

I personally only care for their first three albums.

Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are two of the best heavy albums of all time IMO. While it has a few tracks that I like I'm not a big fan of Kill Em All.

Anything after the Black Album is complete garbage.

I get into it with a lot of people about this, but I don't think the black album is very good. It just comes off like mediocre musical wankery to me.

While it is not my favorite album I can still listen to a few tracks. This is the album that transformed Metallica from a metal band into a heavy pop band.

If you have ever watched " A Year and a Half In the Life of Metallica " you get a first-hand look at how Bob Rock is a total douche.

"...And Justice For All " is by far my favorite Metallica album, untill they released " Death Magnetic " they went through about a 20 year run of medicore music.

I have been listening to a lot of Down lately.
