Have you seen SCs schedule? They’ll be beaten down way too much. And there’s also a ridiculous talent gap between us and SC now. They lost their only 2 real playmakers on offense and 3/4 of their defense, we return basically everyone

Returning everyone doesn't necessarily mean we're going to be better with some of those players. As for being beaten down, you assume UT will be full strength/healthy. We lose a lineman or two on either side and we're gonna be in a real bind. I don't follow USC so I don't know their depth situation, but I'd have to assume it's superior to ours since we're in the middle of a roster turn over and rebuild.

Oline will be better but still terrible. No freaking idea what happens with the dline. A key injury also throws everything into question. Pruitt could win eight but also could win only six if luck doesn’t go his way. We just don’t have the depth to shrug off a key injury or two.

I just don’t like setting standards before start of the season. But yes if everyone stays healthy we should win at least seven.

Did you just use the word "luck" in a discussion about UT sports? I'm trying to remember the last time the ball bounced our way...pun intended.

It’s not. Carolina is in a rebuild just like we are, probably not to the same extent but they’re gonna struggle on offense. Plus the consensus with the fans is that Bentley is an awful QB. The only way I’d be concerned with Carolina is if Joyner or Hillinski start vs us. Especially if it’s their 1st start. Defensively I don’t think they’ll have the guys to contain our WRs, they only have 1 good DB (Jaycee Horn). All this plus it’s a home game, and Carolina tends to struggle with any team on the road.

The question is will we be able to keep JG on his feet to take advantage of the supposed mismatch with our WRs? Again, we've seen this OL enough to know that it's a liability. Every year we're saying "bigger and stronger"..."more experienced". Yet, every year it's the same OL play. More like a chinese fire drill. Now we face the possibility of starting 2 true freshmen on the OL? Nah. I'm expecting to see exactly what we've been seeing until more new faces come on board.

Pruitt appears to know he has to keep piling up prospects at the OL/DL positions. Just have to try and temper expectations until he gets a couple more classes into the program and S&C gets them SEC ready.

I am concerned with SC because of their coach....we have never beaten him as the Head Coach of florida ( when they had bad teams ) nor have we beaten him at SC when he had bad teams …...did I mention that we have never beaten him when he was head coach …….

How many of those games were Butch Jones coaching? Or Derek Dooley? What does ANY of that have to do with the current coaching staff? The L last year was because of a garbage referee call that changed the momentum and Deebo Samuel making plays, and Carolina isn’t just going to match Deebos production with another player.

imo, every game on the schedule outside GA, Bama, Ga State and UTC is a toss up. we get USCe at home and BYU at home.

neither are world beaters. i'm not fretting over anyone on the schedule except the two we all expect to actually be world beaters this year. just need to win 5 or 6 of those other 8 games....and if i could pick 3 that i'd really like to win in there....gimmie FL, USCe, and Vandy. i'd take a loss to MSU and MO in there, if i could get those 3 in my 5 or 6 w's. i might even find a way to get over losing to a UAB...lol.

What's sad is that I can remember the days when we could alway count UK and Vandy as automatic wins...and they were. Now they've become toss ups at best. Never thought I'd live to see a day that Vandy had back to back wins against us much less bigger streak. Just sad what this program has become. Struggling to win 6 games and be bowl eligible. Even the "can't spell Citrus without UT" seems like a fond memory.

I am worried about everyone we play no matter who it is …..there should be no optimism about wins against anyone imo.I do not consider anyone delusional who has posted in this thread ….that is not my style.

I don't think losing Kennedy and Trey from our weakest group, was factored enough.
Having leaders on the field, not the sideline, who knows. Maybe a SC win? 3 point game... 1 play, 1 drive and we're bowling last year.
Does the team quit later with more leaders in the huddle?

We move along quickly because it's just part of the game but I think it was huge with a 1st time coach etc... Extra win(s), a bowl and everything looks different right now. Including recruiting, is my guess.

Losing Chance Hall and Jack Jones greatly compounded the OL does as well.

Well the good news about that, I guess, is that has a lot more to do with how bad we've been than how good he's been... We're gonna get better..

Any bowl game is going to be an impovement over no bowl game. The better the bowl then the better the recruiting then the quicker we get to where we want to be.

Pruitt needs to prove he can handle teams like UK, Vandy, S. Carolina, and Missouri with what he’s got before he makes the leap and starts recruiting on par with teams like UGA.
