Mia and Mya Pauldo to Tennessee!

One of the twins recently broke Breanna Stewart's record for consecutive 3-point shots made (I assume this is in AAU girls league play). She hit 25 without a miss.

AMAZING news. here's the thing...if you are a small guard our style of play is THE way to maximize your strengths while minimizing how much larger guards can impact your play. if you are fast and small, TN may be the place to flourish as a guard. congrats LV nation!

I'm not corrected. Different ranking. Espn looked up b4 I posted it. Splitting hairs? My two hair weave can't handle it. Girls are ranked highly. Call it even and over....
ESPN hoopgurlz 2025….. or you could use Prospect Nation #19 and #58 ? These are the two I use ! Not sure where you got your information? Just wondering?🤷‍♂️

Saw an interview with Kim posted on here by BruisedOrange, and one thing stood out to me. She said her team was going to be the hardest working team in WBB. Interviewer ask was she confident she could get all the players to buy into that. Her answer was: " I'm not going to give them another option." This is going to be good.

Great link! New insights, on their recruitment and their business (these girls think like adults when it comes to business decisions).

FTA, regarding their recruitment:
"The Pauldos were originally considering Mississippi State. Gabe Lazo, an assistant coach who joined Tennessee from Mississippi State this offseason, led their recruitment efforts for the Volunteers.

“We trust him so much,” Mia said. “He’s a great guy and he put his trust in us. We were the first 2025 recruits that they really put their all into. We’re going to be the ones to set the tone.”

FTA, as for business and why Tennessee:
Mia and Mya never shied away from the fact that NIL would play a large role in their recruitment, as they were the youngest athletes to land a deal with Puma and already have a reality show with Overtime after wrapping up their junior year of high school.

[I think this answers that problematic earlier statement about NIL "playing a large roll in their recruitment." People like me read that as a bid for "more NIL money." But now I think it was about structuring, and the flexibility to coordinate their NIL with the business relationships they already have. If so, credit the UTAD for having the courage to step outside the box of familiarity. NOTE: You have a Nike-contracted program bringing in players who have a pre-existing business relationship with Puma. That means UTAD had to initiate some very interesting talks with Nike!]

“Obviously us playing together was a special part,” Mya said. “But they also had a bigger platform than all the other colleges we were looking at. We thought it would be a better fit for our brand, because it will build our brand — and the numbers just fit.”

The Pauldo Twins took their time making a decision, but ultimately, feeling a strong family vibe was what they were seeking most – and they found that with Tennessee after visiting in late June."
------------

I would love to hear from others who are more widely informed if this is new business/NIL territory for collegiate basketball, or something that other schools have dealt with previously.

Great to have players who are first and probably foremost interested in Building their brand! the new world of recruiting - ugh
Building your brand seems smart…. They also seem like really hard workers…. your brand doesn’t get bigger without success…. The twins success will be our success.

I will take a 5 star player who wants to build her brand over a 3 star player who is comfortable in anonymity any day of the week.
It sounds like these girls are go-getters. It is not easy to build an enterprise up from scratch the way they are doing. What are most kids spending their time doing at that age?

Sure, it is always a concern that they might get pulled into too many directions, or bite off more than they can chew. Or they can experience success and egos can get out of control. That is when the parents and coaches come in.

But I like people who are aggressive and forge their own way in the world because that is what I did.

There is nothing more alpha than starting your own business and succeeding at it. We need that attitude if we are going to once again become a going concern that produces a championship product.

Look y'all, if wbb players ranked in the top 50 aren't serious about nil, that's a big red flag for me. Their family is either rich or they aren't very motivated/smart. You have such a short runway to make $ in sports that you have to maximize every opportunity.
