You're going to need to quote the rulebook to prove it to me. Because I know that is the case in the NFL and am pretty sure it is the case in NCAAF. And the reason for that is so you can't intentionally commit egregious penalties to score so that you can just get another play and do the same egregious stuff all over again and again and again. Not true. The whole "game can't end on a defensive penalty" thing is a myth. The game can't end on ANY penalty. But there are very few situations where an offensive penalty would be accepted at the end of a game. Tonight was one of them.

I just looked at the replay and the officials did a great job on the last two blocks. In both cases the blocker was between the runner and the tackler, and to make the tackle the tackler would need to have faced the blocker. And in both cases the tacklers turned their backs to the blocker at the last second. The only question to me was whether #1 knee was down as he made the one handed lateral at the 25 yard line.

Do you mean this rule where it clearly says that on an offensive penalty on the last play, the down is not replayed and the play is nullified. NFL Rules Digest: Foul on Last Play of Half or GameYou're wrong about the NFL too. The rulebook for both says that if the clock hits zero at the end of a half, and an accepted penalty occurs on the play, there will be an untimed down.
But the only instance when a defense would accept a penalty rather than simply letting the game end would be if the offense scored on the play. Otherwise, there is absolutely no benefit to accepting.

OK. You didn't write that in your first post. You made a blanket statement attributing to all last plays in a game. Still not sure a kickoff is considered one of those "change of possession" situations. But, oh well. Not going to research it anymore. The foul was following a change of possession. So even in the NFL, Miami would have had an untimed down.
