Mich Gov rumored to be force killing B10 FB

This is a guess - She controls Michigan/Michigan State maybe through board of directors. That takes out 2 schools which might have been enough to kill it. When is her term up anyway?

My guess is that the majority of college presidents at the Big 10 schools are more liberal than conservative and were looking for the right moment to cancel the Fall season. They couldn’t wait any longer as practices had started without huge problems.

Presidents and ADs voted unanimously to play football, the commissioner went rogue and it sounds like the tyrant b!tch was helping drive things behind the scenes

This is a weak thread. Per The Detroit Free Press, the Big Ten's Presidents voted by a count of 12-2 in favor of cancelling the season. The only two schools to vote in favor of playing the season were Iowa and Nebraska. What pull would Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have over the other 10 schools who also voted in favor of cancelling the season? This doesn't make any sense. It seems more likely that the OP just doesn't like her politics and wanted to blame her.

She was just elected in January 2019 to a 4 year term.

This is not true at all. Per The Detroit Free Press, there was a 12-2 vote by the school presidents in favor of cancelling the season. The only two schools who voted in favor of playing were Iowa and Nebraska.

Election year.
You do not have to tell the truth.
Michigan got what they voted into office. A woman lawyer. Two of the most evil things ever created. Never vote for a woman. Never vote for a lawyer.
Just trying out my election year pass on having to tell the truth.
Did not like it, leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.

Is that the same guy whose son is playing at Miss St this fall?

That's incorrect. A large majority of the presidents voted to postpone the season and the ADs don't have a say in the matter.

Yes. It was 12-2. The only presidents who voted in favor of playing were from Iowa and Nebraska. This thread is based off a false premise and a desire to express negativity toward a liberal governor.

She definitely threw her weight around. She made it clear that no college in Michigan would play football this year. Plus factor in Kevin Warren's social agenda push, so the school presidents knew he was going to be on Whitmer's side. It probably wasn't hard to influence Rutgers/Northwestern/Indiana to cancel since football isn't a priority anyway. The other Big-10 presidents knew it would be a even bigger media storm if only half of the conference played so that's why the vote was so lopsided...

Boy, if that conference listens to her, it’s in a terrible mess.
You really think she cares about it?

The highest-grossing football programs in college football are...

Power 5 — Top 15
1. Texas — $156 million
2. Georgia — $123 million
3. Michigan — $122 million
4. Notre Dame — $116 million
5. Ohio State — $115 million
6. Penn State — $100 million
7. Auburn — $95 million
8. Oklahoma — $94.8 million
9. Alabama — $94.6 million
10. Nebraska — $94.3 million

FWIW, if I thought college football was the secret to political success, I'd keep it to myself. I don't want to get sent to the crazy house. But if I though the absence of football was the secret to it, I might send myself to the crazy house.

Due to lingering resentments, maybe even paranoia, some people want to make things more political than they really are. There is nothing to support the belief that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan played a role in the votes by Big Ten Presidents to postpone their football schedules.
