Michael Dyer - now Louisville bound (merged)

What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

You need to do a little more research. Read the transcripts from the court's. Thats the record. Not saying he didn't do some stupid things but your putting a spin on it.

HUH? Please explain I've read about everything I can find and I'm not "spinning" anything. Dyer admitted that he let Antonio Goodwin borrow his gun and he admitted that he knew they planned on "hitting a lick" with it. That's the record.

When would Dyer join the team if he were a realistic option and would he be walk on or a scholarship player?

Michael Dyer: gun used in armed robbery was mine - CBSSports.com

If this isn't enough I will find you plenty more. Better yet just google Michael Dyer + gun, gun in trunk, robbery, marijuana, spice, hitting a lick, attitude problems, suspended again or whatever else you can think of.

No need to keep re-trying Dyer in the VolNation court of appeals. I really don't think he would get a fair trial here. Way to much irrationality here for that.

ASSUMING that CBJ is even pursuing Dyer, I'm all for letting him decide whether or not to extend Dyer an offer.. I am sure CBJ has access to more information regarding MD's troubles not to mention he is able to interview him if need be. If Butch says Michael Dyer come on down, I'm cool with it.. I get the feeling we're not going to have to worry about.. IMO, CBJ goes with what we have and holds on to the schollie for now..

I agree with you I'm a Vol fan and CBJ is the coach. I will support whatever decision he makes. Anything I say is just a personal opinion but it doesn't affect my support for the team. I only posted a link because someone ask for one and someone else accused me of "spinning" the story.

1) Pretty sure he would be Tried, found Guilty, and sentenced to 100 yds. of hard labor pounding the rock against Oregon, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia.

2) No, CBJ just reads Vol Nation to get all his info.

You forgot one, Michael Dyer goes off against Oregon. Oh yeah this one, Dyer is a beast at RB. And who could forget this one, 5* RB Dyer crushes SEC defenses.

It's time to get in the game. These other programs we have been bad mouthing for being dirty are collecting hardware.

as others have said, you put him on a one strike policy.

it's in dyer's interests to stay clean for one season. if he balls out this season, he's going to get drafted. he's a ridiculously talented football player.

that being said, Janzen Jackson and darick rogers couldn't keep their crap together for one year...

we really need a RB to show out this season, so we can get over the rb recruiting curse and to help a corp of baby wide receivers.

True - but who was the HC they both crapped out on?

I think Jones can handle it.

I agree with this but I cannot really explain why... I get the impression that CBJ would be more involved personally and would play a more active role with these kinds of guys than CDD did. I have NO evidence of this at all, just a gut feeling I get from listening to the guy and those around him talk about the type of coach he is with his players.

I'm sure he would have no problem jettisoning anybody that he felt was becoming detrimental to the team's chemistry with a quickness, but CBJ strikes me as the type of coach that would have a very explicit and documented set of expectations for managing the trouble-starters. Sort of like a contract that details behavior and consequences.

I could see him being the type of coach that takes the time to personally check in on these guys and wants progress updates regularly.

I'm writing a lot to explain a simple gut feeling that could be completely off base, but CDD just seemed so wishy-washy, like he had different standards based on talent level. This would probably lead to some serious dissension among the rest of the team while not helping to build any respect from players that were allowed to ignore the rules. I am interested to see how CBJ ends up handling these types of players though, I am sure there will be plenty of these situations he'll have to address during his time here.
