Especially the ones who spend 20 years talking about being shunned because they "do what's right."
Find any substantial profile written about Pearl in the last 20 years. It'll be there.Right, because all the other ones usually admit to being cheaters at every opportunity.
You make it sound like he opened every press conference with a statement about being shunned for doing whats right. Can you provide a handful of links where Pearl has spent 20 years talking about his incident? Honestly, I don't recall this mentioned often, but I'm quite forgetful in my old age. I would like to read them for my own personal education.

Are you serious? Pearl has talked about that over and over and over. You just need to face reality that Pearl held himself out to be some paragon of honesty and turned out to be a complete fraud.
"The only concern was recruiting -- could I recruit?" Pearl says. "I would have to live to a higher standard. Having cooperated with the NCAA, there would be people out there saying, 'If I get a chance, I'm going to nail him.' I had to be above reproach."
You should probably start with the Milwaukee Magazine piece that has been linked here before. After that, I'd say the profile Grant Wahl did in, if memory serves me correct, October of '07 for Sports Illustrated would be an enlightening read. That should get you started.
Pearl on recruiting at the Div. I level after the Illinois incident. Interesting.
When was that quote made?
I don't interpret that as Pearl saying he is perfect. I think he's saying that, if he isn't, people will be out to get him. It looks like it was a pretty accurate statement.

"Regrettably, I would because of principle. I'm a bit of an idealist. A lot of people got hurt in that situation, and it's unfortunate. But it's just a process that has to take place."
Thanks LawVol. That's a good one. Do you have a link? I'd like to read the full article.
Any others?
