If I have relatively more testosterone than other men as evidenced by stronger secondary sexual characteristics and maybe even aggressiveness, is that a public statement? Are you offended by my masculinity?

The injustice in this whole "coming out" by a dominating SEC DT is that we all have to digest that a gay man can destroy most of us on a football field...I didn't ask for this BS and now I have to handle it :loco:

You seem offended by the girlie avatar. Said it was a hetero public statement. There are other hetero public statements being made physically at every moment...some more loudly than others by men with more testosterone. Is that offensive to you?

For people asking why he needs to tell the world he's gay, well it's not easy to hold a big secret in your life such as this. It should be something that should not be a big deal to be gay but it is. The media is the one making this out to be the biggest story ever, solely for the $$$$$. If your annoyed by the attention receives, it's not fair to blame him for coming out.

I agree, I would love to live in a world where that information doesn't matter but apparently rumors had been going around and when asked about he was honest. I don't think this is a situation where he was intending to break barriers, I think he just decided to be honest if asked.

Because that is the social norm, we have an expectation that everyone we meet is straight(yes even gay people have that expectation). So it stands to reason that you would want people to know your sexual preference so as to reduce confusion and increase understanding. I've had a few friends come out over the years and it was never about bringing attention to themselves in a selfish way, they just wanted to be accepted for who they are, I'm pleased to say that their being gay changed absolutely nothing.

Pretty sure you just won the "Most Igonorant Post in this Thread" award. I know that talk radio and 24-hour news networks say a lot of things about gay people, some positive, some negative but they all share a deep, dark secret about gays. It's a shocking secret, one that could totally unravel the arguments and debates over gay rights in this country and I'm going to expose that secret right here and right now... Are you ready?

Gay people are no different than you are me. They have the same hopes, the same dreams, the same interests, flaws, idiosyncrasies, faith and humor as anyone else.

That's the secret the media is keeping from the general public and god forbid it ever gets out because if it does, they won't have a topic to drub up ratings and ad revenue with.

And considering kids today can stream hardcore porn on their smartphones, the last thing I'm worried about is the gay couple next door who's been together for 10 years.

He has too come out now because he is OPENLY gay, that means it will be an issue on any team that picks him up. He has to make it public now. before he is picked up. It is a "heads up" (excuse the pun) for teams that might be interested.

I think a gay couple is about the most harmless thing in the world next to puppies and g rated movies. I also think it's pretty sad when I meet people who genuiely believe that "the gays" are trying to seduce them or their children into a life of godless sin. Like I said, gay people are just people, some are giant a**holes and some are really nice people. Most gay people I've known have been pretty awesome people, only a couple have been a-holes and that had nothing to do with their sexuality... they were just a-holes.

tl:dr Gay folks continue to just be regular folk

I heard he come out to his teammates in August....but I don'y know, and neither do you. It's nether here nor there because the rest of the of the world didn't know. He is just throwing it out there for any interested teams ... letting the hype and fury pass before the draft hopefully, so that it will make the transition to the NFL easier. He really didn't have any choice in the matter. If he is openly gay...he had to let it be known before the draft. he knew what would happen.
