has perfectly summed up my thoughts on the efficacy of full court pressure against good teams. Go to www.sportingnewstoday.com and head to page 14. The last section of his 3 Pointers column states my feelings about the press perfectly. In fact, I'm just going to let that stand as a representation of my answer the next time someone asks me why I don't think UT can win big playing Pearl's preferred system.

Bruce Pearl and the BB team are the best thing going for the Vols right now........which puts you in the short list of things anti-Vols.
Thanks for sharing once again.

Pearl's "preferred system" certainly failed us against the number one team in the land and against a determined Mississippi team on Saturday. All we've got right now is a 14-2 record (in spite of a depleted roster) and a five-game winning streak. Despite the disparagement of all things Pearl by certain nattering nabobs of negativity, I'll take that. NOW, more than ever, It's great to be a Tennessee Vol!

What Pearl is running now isn't his preferred system.

Yes, agreed........It's time to rid ourselves of the Debby-Downers of this site. Seems like a good place to start is with the fools writing these Nega-Vol articles around here...... If you don't like being top 10, 14-2, 4 straight NCAA bids, 2 sweet sixteens, amazing stadium renovations and practice facilities, McDonald's All-Americans, then please do us all a favor and go move to Alabama.......... :eek:lol:

Look......we've had this discussion many times......I'm not totally disagreeing with your point, and Hater's point either, I understand what you're trying to say, I really do.

But, I have 2 problems with you guys......

1. You don't like Coach Pearl, on a personal level. To me, that has nothing to do about our program, or about the man. Coach Pearl is a great guy, and the best thing to EVER happen to UT bball...... Maybe you didn' attend games when we were 12-18 and there was 6,000 people there to watch a sorry show.

2. Although the press is abit of a gimmick, it serves to wear down the other team, and I'm hoping that we can mix and match our defenses when the time comes. I'm not going to judge a coach that has more collective success than all of the top coaches in UT history, combined.......

It is clear that you guys are more into "proving your points" to gratify your own ego "I told you so" then you are just enjoying the fact that we have a great bball porgram.

It's nice to see hat getting recognized for the troll that he is, finally. With his Kiffin love and fake fan perspective, he was getting a free pass from most of VN, but now every thread he's getting called out. Lawyer ego will prevent him from looking in the mirror here, but maybe some of his followers will see what is really going on, finally.
I do agree that the postgame report is something I read after a win, but the positivity there is always tempered while he's turning over rocks looking for a fault. You definitely feel the joy in his writing when CBP and the Vols lose.
Tell Pitino how you can't beat good teams with the press, geniuses.

How much has Tennessee pressed in the last 4 games? Next time, you might want to know what you're talking about before going off on one of your sheepish rants.

Hopefully, Pearl will be able to see that this is his recipe for success with this team and not go back to excessive pressing when the two dumbasses return. I don't mind some pressure on occasion; but I agree that it ultimately leads to way too many easy buckets for the opposition.

When is the last time a pressing team won the national title? That was the point of the article...

Notice Pearl has played more of a defensive-oriented gameplan and we reel off four straight...

How much did Pitino press in the last four games of the NCAA Tourney in 96? Hardly ever.

I really don’t give a rat’s ass how much Tennessee presses as long as our team finds a way to eke out victory after victory. As long the Vols are winning, the derision from any and all mokes will continue to fall on deaf ears. If that opinion rankles the puerile reactionary in you, so be it. That's what I'm talkin' about, жопа!
