I really dont give a rats ass how much Tennessee presses as long as our team finds a way to eke out victory after victory. As long the Vols are winning, the derision from any and all mokes will continue to fall on deaf ears. If that opinion rankles the puerile reactionary in you, so be it. That's what I'm talkin' about, жопа!
Look......we've had this discussion many times......I'm not totally disagreeing with your point, and Hater's point either, I understand what you're trying to say, I really do.
But, I have 2 problems with you guys......
1. You don't like Coach Pearl, on a personal level. To me, that has nothing to do about our program, or about the man. Coach Pearl is a great guy, and the best thing to EVER happen to UT bball...... Maybe you didn' attend games when we were 12-18 and there was 6,000 people there to watch a sorry show.
2. Although the press is abit of a gimmick, it serves to wear down the other team, and I'm hoping that we can mix and match our defenses when the time comes. I'm not going to judge a coach that has more collective success than all of the top coaches in UT history, combined.......
It is clear that you guys are more into "proving your points" to gratify your own ego "I told you so" then you are just enjoying the fact that we have a great bball porgram.
Point 1 is wrong in every line. Just makes no sense.
Have you noticed how differently we play now that we have some ability to defend the basket?
It isn't about my points. This is about the formula for tourney success.

Who is teaching to play the way we are playing. I would think they work on that in practice. I would think his preferred way of playing is based on players he has and how they best defend team we are playing. Just my guess, I'm not at practices.
If you look at his body of work, it's blatantl obvious that his preferred defensive style is pressing. All the rhetoric before the season started involved getting back to the press. The only reason he backed off on it now is because he doesn't have the depth anymore. Hopefully he learns from this and sees that against teams with good guard play a press hurts you.
That's a good point, and a point that is stated in a mature way....... I hope that Pearl continues to learn to adapt his style accordingly, as well.......
This thread is great. Hat is saying that he is really proud of Bruce Pearl for recognizing that the press is not appropriate with his current personnel.
I am glad that Pearl is getting the credit he deserves. We ran a nice half court offense and looked better on defense than we have for most of the last 4 years so this is a great and well written tribute to the coaching prowess of our excellent coach. Depleted roster sure, but he makes adjustments. We cannot score from outside, so he does not just let them jack 3s, he gets them to feed Wayne. We cannot penetrate the zone, so he writes up plays that work.
All of that is implicit in the pressing comment right?
Are you really calling the Pearl doubters ignorant?Man, you're just wasting your time talking to these "fans." I've tried. They don't like Pearl and NOTHING will change their minds. Nevermind the fact Pearl coached them the defense they've been playing recently. Since it's not Pearl's preferred style it doesn't matter to them. They'll never give the man his due credit.
Just ignore them, though it's hard sometimes to see such great ignorance!

About what I figured since he has done a more than outstanding job at Vandy, kind of like Pearl at UT. Both are doing a great deal, considering the schools, and fans at both schools should be proud to have them as coaches. Neither should go anywhere!I don't give a crap about Bobby Johnson and Vandy.
