Mike Edwards '09 DB

Dismuke will be a stub for the Bearcats...He may have been the most underrated player in the county last year...

I agree with that. He is the best pure lockdown corner I have seen in Ohio in maybe the last couple seasons. He will be a great player for the Bearcats.

Green, Edwards, and Walls are the only 3 not in so far. They have until August 1st

How could he not get into Ohio State because of grades? They are a typical state school just like Tennessee. Same academic standards.

The suckeyes standards are no greater than the SEC. Larry Grant couldn't academically qualify at Florida, but that didn't stop the nuts from welcoming him with open arms. Unless the standards have dramatically changed in the past couple years Edwards should've been able to qualify in either conference.

I don't think he said that he couldn't get in to Ohio St....he just said that they didn't pursue because of his borderline grades

Bingo....and for the record he wouldn't of had a problem with the clearing house, it would have been with the admissions at OSU. A good example of this is Javon Ringer....

Not sure why OSU didn't offer Edwards (they did recruit him throughout quite heavily) but he is certainly good enough to play at OSU and any other school in the country. He was a huge pickup for Tennessee.

How someone like Rivals rates a DJ Hunter a 4* and a Mike Edwards a 3* just proves that some of the people doing these rankings dont really know what they are doing at times.

OSU took four defensive backs last class so they probably felt that was enough, if they wanted one more then it probably would have been Mike. Great player and it was even better to tap into Glenville.

They've actually raised their admission standards a good bit in the last few years. Even so, the main reason OSU didn't go after him hard is the fact that they signed many other highly rated DBs in their last class. I believe most of them committed before Edwards did too.

"Mike Edwards gets here two days ago. I had never even met the guy. I said what's your name, but he has had two really good days. Those young guys have good speed. You can't beat speed."
WTF? Edwards came on an official visit and committed to Kiffin right after it. How could Kiffin have possibly not met him?
