If this is verifiably true, we need to rethink our approach. We recently saw how far-reaching a rumor on Volnation can become.

With Signing Day less than a month away they're trying to "get in on" some prospects? Yeah, it's the interweb posters causing the problem. It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that any prospect worth half a damn has been recruited for over a year now.

If Pearl is going to rip internet posters for running off recruits, shouldn't he, in the interest of fairness, thank those who tried mightly to dissuade him from signing stiffs like Marques Johnson and Phillip Jurick?

I love the logic behind this. We're not having trouble recruiting because I told the 'AA I didn't recognize my own damn house and got my entire staff pulled off the road. Our difficulties stem from the internet.

That is not the argument whatsoever. All he is saying is that message board rumors are read by recruits, players, fans, etc. That quote does nothing to imply the magnitude of said rumors, just that they are recognized.

Yeah, "taking down own program" is a totally neutral comment on the effect.

Of course you're right, but do you ever consider your own karma? Yelling about your own fidelity when faced with your own shortcomings often will result in your comeuppance. I agree with you now on most things but, make sure your house is clean given the mud you've been slinging....

"Taking down own program" was added by Griffith to get a rise out of followers. First part of quote was more than likely learned from chatter at media day. Important to delineate between the two.

Find me 3 major conference coaches who have signed at least 4 recruiting classes and survived with no misses.
