I'm sure the current ban on off-campus recruiting has little to no impact on recruiting. It's all the fault of negative message boards.

Exactly. I'm amazed at the portion of our fanbase who acts as if coach worship is a prerequisite to being a supporter of the program.

Elite players would certainly overlook Pearl's miniscule track record of producing NBA players if the interwebs were more friendly to him. We're killing his plans. We should be ashamed.

The part in bold bothers me. If it is just a few posters why get so upset? I see as many or more over enthusiastic posts building the program and Pearl up as posts being critical. There are always, always, going to be those in a group of people who will critisize anything and I would think any teenager would realize that by now.

Fans have always been uptight and over eager to run their mouth, that has not changed. Why get upset because there is a forum in which uptight, over eager, loudmouths can vent. I don't get it.

When basketball recruits visit (or call) the University of Tennessee, they should be asking Coach Pearl directly about these rumors and stories. Ask CBP to explain them. Don't rely on ignorant message board posters or other team's coaches to tell you the story.

Hell, you could even ask Coach Summitt or Coach Dooley to explain it to you.

The pearlhaters didn't keep us from making it to the elite 8 last season.

I think the pearlhaters' opinions of pearl are more of a personal matter. For whatever reason, and I think I have a pretty good reason why, they are not allowed to like Pearl. Pearl could win back to back national titles and they would still hate Pearl.

The way I see it, and I have been a lurker for a long time. Those "few" that are mentioned in the tweet haven't really changed their MO or gotten any worse about the way they post at all. The only difference is that where before all this came to light it could be dismissed as just a few negative Nancy's and now there is substance out in the open for us all to see. I am not saying the few are right, but that doesn't mean they are wrong either. We are a proud fanbase, and after going through what we've had to go through in football the past decade, all we had to hang our hat on was basketball... To have that tarnished is a slap in the face after you've already been drug through the mud. I support Bruce. I supported Buzz and the coaches prior to him as well. I am young enough that I will support the next coach whether sooner or later. I support UT basketball and athletics period. That is my MO, that is what I do. I am not blind to dysfunction or hypocrisy eiher though.

That being said, I am not sure any good is going to come of re-stating what has already been stated time and time again. I think at this point everyone who is on here with any regularity knows where eachother stands on the issue of Bruce Pearl and his coaching tenure at UT. Maybe it is time we move on from the issue until the AA findings and possible sanctions are revealed. We have plenty of things to be excited about as far as the upcoming season is concerned. I don't wanna gloss over the bad and if something new comes out I would love to read about it and discuss it. I am kinda sick of :horse: though at the same time.

What are your thoughts? I'll hang up and take your comments off the air...

I will be pleased when the Knoxville media no longer does the bidding for UT coaches. They did it for Phil, now they are doing it for Bruce. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Seriously, a coach is trying to create a circle the wagons mentality and force the impotentcy of potential negative outside influences? Some of you are shocked? How long have you all listened to coach-speak?

That would require a level of humility and self reflection this staff is, to a man, totally incapable of. All of their problems are someone else's fault. Josh Selby decommits? That's on WWWes. Pearl lies to the 'AA? That's on Thad Matta. Recruiting not going as hoped? That's on those damn internet rabble rousers.
