Mike Gundy FIRED

Him letting them do it is weirder.

Either he just loves the program that much or, they have something serious on him. If it’s the latter, it will come out anyway
If it's dirt, it is must be bad for both of them. They're hurting the program and he's hurting his career. I don't see a win here for anyone.

I don't know if he's represented by Jimmy Sexton but if so, it's extremely out of character for him.

Taking control out of the HCs hands never works out. It’s not a good situation for either. Maybe it’s both. They’ve got dirt, but also no money so he’s still their best option moving forward and he doesn’t want to see Okie St struggle

I am ambivalent about Gundy in the bitter end. Neither love him or hate him.

Everyone saying they're glad he turned us down-bollocks. If he had signed on the dotted line in any of our pathetic coaching searches, everyone here would have been celebrating and calling it a win.

If they have some legit dirt on him, it's going to eventually come out and the University will still have to let him go and face the NCAA for trying to cover-up whatever scandal it is.
Legit dirt !!

The guy was 0-9 in conference this year----

All those Tennessee induced raises made him cost more than the benefit he was providing on the field.

If T. Boone Pickens were still around the money wouldn't have mattered though.

If, NC can't get Belichek, then I would kick the tires here. I'd start by finding out what went wrong this season (recruiting, injuries, curse of no Mullet, etc)
NC is not gonna hire a 72 year old dude who doesn't know anything about the college game

Maybe it has been asked but is there any realm of possibility that OkSt comes to the SEC?

By no means does this mean I would welcome it. If I had a vote it would be HELL NO.
You'd see Virginia Tech and UNC before that, but if Cali can be ACC you have no reason to not speculate that Hawaii could be SEC

He did lose the mullet...
Perhaps there was a clause buried in his contract stating something to the effect of "Pay shall be commensurate with length of mullet, as measured from the average forehead hairline to the tips of the aft locks most distant from aforementioned hairline."

No more partying, all business now.

Gundy being successful in Knoxville would've hinged on whether he could sell Rocky Top on the recruiting trail. I think he can really coach due to the success of so many pedestrian-level recruits he and staff coached up over the past 20 years. His best players are guys the big boy Texas teams passed over.

I think he could have recruited well here, especially at the two times we barked up his tree. He is a self-assured arrogant piece of work, but that can really sell to an ambition recruit and their families. I suspect he would have been formidable at a true blood blood program like UT.

I’m glad we never found out. Never trusted anybody with a mullet. Especially anybody over 40.

I'm still questioning whether or not they really let him go.

If they do, I could very well seeing the Cowboys replicating our walk through the desert
Didn’t they go winless in the conf this year? That seems like they’re already walking through the desert.

And that’s quite a feat to go winless in that conference. How bad do you have to be to do that?

Gundy used the haplessness of our AD at the time, John Currie, to get himself a raise. To think that we considered hiring that stooge just shows how badly led our athletic department was . . . Starting with Mike Hamilton through Fulmer, it looked like we were trying to be incompetent.

One less pompus,egoed,mullet-headed jerkoff to listen to.Is he going to bring up Tennessee's name to get a bigger contract for himself.A 3-9 season record was enough for the okie team with the paddles as a student/principle thing.Hey Mundy,"Be a man".

The guy is weird. His infamous, "I'm a man! I'm 40!" rant from 2007, was all in response to media speculation that a backup QB might transfer. In other words, the kind of thing that happens all the time.

Mike Hamilton was the most incompetent man I ever saw in a position of major importance. He was constantly pushed as a fine Christain who stood for humanitarian causes. I never could see who was his big power broker. I kept telling myself that he was a branch in the Haslam takeover, but I don't really know now.
