Gundy is our first official offer.. I can't say that I necessarily agree with it, but I'm going to fully support the Vols either way. Not everyone is going to be happy regardless... I know there are several coaches who I'd be opposed to that the fanbase seems to be going nuts about having (Gruden included), and several that say they'll disown the team if we hire such and such that I think would do a great job (Strong). Nothing to do but wait and see...

You will never get through to all these guys that were on Stong's nuts. Either way UT goes half the fan base will be pissed (unless Gruden changes his tune).

Pretty much this.

I like Strong but he is a gamble and not as proven a commodity as Gundy. Gundy has a harder schedule and is the little brother team in his state. He has been more impressive than Miles was there.

No idea if he pans out here but some of these excuses are stupid. Our DC makes about as much as their whole defensive staff.

All of Gundy's recruiting connections in Oklahoma and Texas are gonna be just GREAT

If Hart really passed on Charlie Strong for this guy, then he's an idiot.

I'm totally down for Gundy! Would be a homerun hire. I know he will bring in Monken as OC and great DC as well.

Oh great, now we get to look forward to having a crappy defense every year like last year. I can't say I'm thrilled by the choice. Go Vols though.

Since 2008 Gundy is 10-10 verses top 25 teams.

If you take out 2011, he is 5-10 against ranked teams with just 1 win against his two biggest rivals (Texas and OU) being the 2010 5-7 Longhorns. He is not able to get his team to consistently compete at a high level.

He had a great year last year, but does not mean he is the long term solution.

Not at all, we offered Gundy before Strong, seems he is our #1 guy, and in all honesty, if he can win 23 games in 2 years at OSU, with a BCS bowl win against Andrew Lucks Stanford team, he can win at UT.
