Military badges, coins, insignia, etc....

You are in the right place, for sure. Thanks for posting and sharing. Guys, from your dad's generation, didn't brag a lot, imo. But, they could make a funny about anything.

that is true,I didn't even know that dad was in the airborne, till we got all his medals and patches in one place

I did ask him why he jumped out of a perfectly good airplane,he just spit in his bakker can and smiled, then said it wasn't the jump you had to worry about,it was the landing,i think he was probably around 80 at the time and wouldn't say anything more about it

he never bragged about anything he did in the service or talk about it much either

neither did my uncle,he was in the battle of the Bulge, other than to say he had papers that said he wasn't crazy,he had a lot of problems that he never would talk about,he would just laugh and tell me he had papers:)

and my other uncle that was in the Navy in the Pacific,he never said a word about it and I mean not a word,I didn't even know he was in the Navy, till my Dad told me,many years after he had passed away

they were a tough generation for sure

Everybody needs a T shirt advertising themselves, it's annoying. Lots of guys hunting for attention and thank yous. That said, I make a note to say hello when I see Vietnam or older guys, not sure why I don't do the same to folks my age, honestly.

I do the same thing.

I say something to all of them, typically if I have the time

great picture, thanks for sharing

this is probably the wrong place to post these, but there the patches and medals my dad earned,he made the tail end of WW2 and fought in Korea and was injured by Shrapnel there, and he would tell you he didn't earn that Purple Heart in a mess tent :) of course that was about all he would say about it

Your dad earned his, that's all.

That's one hell of a colletion. I see a CMSAF coin in the front right, if my eyes aren't deceiving me, and sometimes they do. Lol

What is your dad's background?

Yeah that's what it is, I remember looking at that one specifically.

He enlisted in the Air Force out of high school, did his 4 years then went to college and came back in as an officer. Started out flying helicopters then moved to C-141's and then KC-135's, with a few desk jobs mixed in.

Needless to say we moved a lot haha.

Wow. He really has his stuff together. I assume he is retired?

Is he enjoying retirement? I retired in 05, and it took 6 or 7 years for me to settle in. Haha

He is now but had an adjustment period like you. As he put it, he went from having command of X number of men and X number of planes to his only important decision he made all day being what was for breakfast.

He and my mom are happy though and enjoying retirement, and being grandparents.

Well deserved.
