Supreme Court Orders Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy Reinstated

The Supreme Court has issued an order effectively forcing the Biden administration to restore the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which requires many asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while they await hearings on their requests for safe haven in the U.S.

The high court’s order, issued on Tuesday evening over the dissent of the court’s three Democratic appointees, rejected the Justice Department’s request for a stay that would have allowed the controversial policy to remain on ice while litigation over President Joe Biden’s effort to rescind it continues.

The ruling is a victory for the states of Texas and Missouri, which sued over the repeal of the policy and won a ruling from a federal judge in Texas earlier this month requiring that the Biden administration return to the practice President Donald Trump instituted in January 2019.

Texas Sheriff Says He Keeps a CORPSE TROLLEY In His Truck After Number Of Dead Migrants Found Along The Border in 2021 So Far Surges to 383 - the highest in a decade

As the number of migrants crossing the Mexico-U.S. border hits record breaking numbers this year, so too, has the number of dead immigrants, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

As of July, Border Patrol officials have found 383 dead migrants in 2021, the highest total in a decade, and already far surpassing the 253 recovered last year.

The real figures could be even higher as some bodies aren't discovered for years, while Border Patrol's figures do not include bodies found by other law enforcement agencies, such as local sheriff's offices.

During the month of August, HHS released an average of 605 unaccompanied migrant children to sponsors, against another 518 apprehended near border crossing points daily—creating little better than a wash on rolling detention totals.

400-Strong Migrant Caravan From Mexico Headed for US Border

A 400-strong caravan of immigrants is making its way through Mexico toward the US, even as Mexican National Guard troops continue trying to thwart border-bound migrants.

The massive group, which left from the southern city of Tapachula on Saturday, began its northward trek after Mexican forces broke up at least two other caravans in the past week.

The new caravan is made up largely of Central Americans and Haitians who told authorities they are fleeing poverty and violence in their home countries — and seeking refuge in the US.

A female migrant died while attempting to escape from a Border Patrol agent near downtown Laredo, Texas. Agents arrested the woman after she illegally entered the United States. After slipping out of handcuffs, she ran into the darkness and fell from a 20-foot cliff and died from her injuries.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning at approximately 6:00 a.m. when a Border Patrol agent encountered four migrants after they emerged from the Rio Grande River near the Juarez-Lincoln port of entry. The agent arrested the four migrants and used three sets of handcuffs to connect the migrants to each other. As the agent assisted the group of migrants across a fence on the way to a Border Patrol vehicle, the female migrant managed to extricate her hand from the handcuff and escape.

Human Smuggler Wrecks Innocent Motorist in Texas Border Town

EP-Crash-640x480.jpg

EAGLE PASS, Texas — On Monday evening, a vehicle suspected of transporting migrants fled a Border Patrol checkpoint near Carrizo Springs. Multiple law enforcement agencies pursued. After a 20-mile chase, the smuggler crashed into an innocent motorist.

The pursuit began when the smuggler realized he was headed right into an established Border Patrol highway checkpoint on US 277 near Carrizo Springs. Hoping to avoid arrest, the driver fled the area, traveling back to the border. Agents notified Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Patrol.

The high-speed vehicle pursuit reached speeds of more than 80 miles per hour. Upon entering Eagle Pass, the smuggler struck an uninvolved motorist and child passenger. Both occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

The smuggler was apprehended by DPS after a brief foot chase and was also taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. Four migrants were arrested at the scene and turned over to Border Patrol. One migrant managed to escape in the aftermath.

The driver of the vehicle is being held by DPS and faces multiple criminal charges including Smuggling of Persons and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Operation Lone Star Nets 5K Criminal Arrests, 1500 Firearms near Texas Border

EAGLE PASS, Texas — On Wednesday, a Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol helicopter scanned outbound trains as troopers assisted on the ground. A plume of dust created by the hovering aircraft evidenced the daily check for migrants leaving the city. The border security task, once exclusively performed by federal authorities, has become routine for state troopers under Operation Lone Star.

As the Border Patrol is relegated to the enormous task of providing humanitarian care for thousands of migrant detainees in custody, their involvements in actual patrols are significantly reduced.

Along state highways, back roads, and the banks of the Rio Grande, state troopers and Texas Army National Guard personnel are sometimes the only law enforcement officers visible.

In March 2021, Governor Greg Abbott announced Operation Lone Star would commence in response to an increase in migrant crossings, human smuggling, and narcotics trafficking. The operation involves the deployment of more than 1,000 state police and National Guardsmen to the immediate border area.

The operation continues in full swing nearly six months later. Despite the increased presence of the troopers and guardsmen, lax federal immigration policies have caused the flow to continue almost unabated.

Migrants Wait for Border Patrol on Texas Golf Course

EAGLE PASS, Texas — On Wednesday, a group of migrants crossed the Rio Grande hoping to surrender to authorities near downtown. They were met by municipal golf course employees who told the migrants to stay in a shaded spot. In one of the busiest areas for migrant crossings in the city, they waited nearly an hour for Border Patrol agents to arrive.

The group of eight, including children, strolled through the course as residents continued their games in a scene that plays out daily as the Border Patrol is forced to abandon routine duties.

With more than 1.2 million apprehensions this fiscal year through July, migrant apprehensions are on pace to break all records. Facility overcrowding and logistical problems have caused the agency to resort to detaining migrants in outdoor settings under international bridges.

Democrats make case to Senate parliamentarian for 8 Million Green Cards

Democrats' long-held hopes for providing a path to legal status for millions of immigrants is now in the hands of a little-known figure: The Senate parliamentarian.

Democrats pitched Elizabeth MacDonough, a nonpartisan referee, Friday on their plan to provide permanent legal status, which paves the way for a path to citizenship, for 8 million immigrants, including Dreamers, temporary protected status holders, agricultural and other essential workers.

After struggling for years to get a deal on immigration reform, and with President Biden’s sweeping comprehensive plan stalled on Capitol Hill, Democrats are ready to go it alone by including their smaller plan in a sweeping $3.5 trillion social spending bill they hope to pass as soon as this month.

Migrant encounters over 200,000 again in August, as border surge continues

The 208,887 migrant encounters mark a 317% increase over last August

There were more than 200,000 migrant encounters at the southern border in August, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed on Wednesday, the second month in a row where the number has been over the 200,000 mark as migrants continue to attempt to enter the U.S.

Fox News first reported that there were 208,887 encounters in August. While it marks the first decrease in migrant encounters seen under the Biden administration, where migrant encounters have been sharply rising for months, it is only a 2% drop over the more than 212,000 encounters in July.
