Milton’s accuracy and velocity

In the SC game, Milton did have some high, hard throws, especially in the end zone. I'm no expert, but it looked to me like he was throwing into coverage on those plays and trying to stick the ball where the receiver had a chance but the defender didn't. Sometimes you can float them in, sometimes you can't. But that was my interpretation on most if the "almost uncatchable" throws toward the back of the endzone. Those receivers looked covered to me and a softer throw would have been a pick. Agreed, he needs to keep working, but so does every player.

Told my son they need to work some old school option run in with Milton ..While doing this utilize Fant and do simple plays according to which way he runs the ball ..Even the slot could be used on curl routes..Have us bombs happen when they come up to stop the option ..
I don't think the coaches will dial up any option runs for Milton. He is our only QB right now and if he gets hurt we are in trouble.

QBR is 275, not bad at all!

And yes, I realize thats on 33 attempts in mop up duty, but its better than the alternative for sure

Also, please remember that QBJM was playing with mostly our backups as a lot of the other starters were pulled when he played as well, meanwhile, the other team still had their 1's in. I don't think we'll know a whole lot from the Vandy game. JM has not had full practice or play time with the 1's. So timing will be off. I do believe an offseason with the one's after him being able to experience HH handle it, will do him wonders. I'm going to stay positive about next year and Joe. Not so sure about this weekend.

Yet everything we hear is that Milton has reps with the 1's in practice every week.

Milton did not get benched due to Hooker's emergence. He was given multiple opportunities to hold the job at TN but was bad. Hooker got an opportunity due to Milton losing the QB1 spot due to poor performance. He was not QB1 at MI due to poor performance. His performance last night did not look significantly better than what he looked like last season as a starter.

The notion Milton is better and a totally different QB than we saw last season and MI saw is ridiculous until he proves it. He will get the chance to prove it, but the odds are not in his favor.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, Hooker went in for an injured Milton and never looked back. I could be wrong but I thought that is the way it happened.

Notwithstanding your witty retort, the fact still remains that Milton lost his starting job at two different programs. And the reasons that he lost those starting jobs don’t just go away.

It's called growth. He's no where near the same QB he was at Micjigan not the same one who started the season for us last season. He got injured, and Hooker came in with the hot hand. Now he has the tools to improve even more over the off season and be who we need him to be next season.

I'm rooting for Joe to prove me wrong.

But to say Nico won't start because he's just a freshman is just shortsighted.
The kid is an incredible incredible talent.
The most gifted we've ever had come to Tennessee.

Let it play out. Joe's time is RIGHT NOW. So the whole dynamic is changed for 2023 already
He hasn't played a down in the SEC. before you anoint him the next Peyton Manning, let's see what he can do when he gets hit by a college linebacker.

I can’t stand the “he needs to gain weight” argument.

Nico is an early enroll and has until September of 2023 to gain plenty of weight.

Just because he’s a freshman doesn’t mean he won’t be ready.
