Milton’s accuracy and velocity

coaches thought similar I guess since both Peyton and Stewart got the chance to take over QB1 after Colquitt and Helton were out.

I followed recruiting back then more than I do now. Stewart was highly rated by the few who covered recruiting back then as well. Many thought Stewart may be better and said he had earned his rating based off his performance and skills whereas Manning had earned his off of Archie's name.
Me too. They didn’t have the star system. Both were considered “blue chip” recruits. I would peruse the Parade All-America and USA Today All-America lists and read up on Sporting News reports to see what I should look forward to. Peyton was regarded higher by all and the Max Emfinger listing sealed the consensus. The “many” were locals…not national based. When both trotted out against UCLA, I didn’t think Peyton could physically endure an offensive series. That would be a “report” circa early 90’s. You didn’t have the plethora of self-manufactured recruiting experts and the message board narratives that manufactured overrating due to lineage. Most of us had never seen a single highlight of the kid but NFL scouts who witnesses him throwing the ball around at Saints practices raved about him.

Time plays tricks on all of us and I'm sure we both have our own memory of that recruitment year. That was a time of 900 numbers for recruiting hotlines is where you got the most accurate recruiting information. I will say this. Mine and your memory are similar but not exact. From my memory, you are not giving Stewart the credit he deserved as a recruit.

So if I'm vandy I give up the middle of the field and see how accurate he is.
I mean we know he can throw it over a mountain....

Reminds me of end of 04 season Ainge injury
Enter R.Clausen demolishes A&M in cotton bowl
Enter 05 season Fulmer decides to pull a Spurrier and use 2 qbs, teams then realized R.Clausen didn't have an arm.
SMH
I don't see Huepel doing that

He was hyped and I credited him as a blue chip recruit. With everything that was available to recruitniks at the time, your memory OVERcredits him. Vols fans were excited at landing TWO top line QB prospects. There was no narrative that Peyton was a product of his daddy. Many had no memory of Archie as a college legend…just the guy finishing his career at Houston and Minnesota as a backup.

Spurrier did it on purpose, to show he COULD. It was more “look at me, not these guys I allow to play QB for me.” For Fulmer it was desperation when either Erik or Rick struggled in a series. It got worse when UGA showed everybody that Clausen couldn’t make you pay over the top with his less than mediocre arm if the defensive backs kept everything in front of them. Telling that Fulmer had two losing seasons in fifteen and in both he played musical chairs at the most important position.

Would like to see him run more in QB option and speed option when Vandy has two high safeties. When they bring the safeties up to support the run, throw it over their heads!

I have low confidence in our offense with Milton running it. Not as smart as Hendon. No touch on the ball. Accuracy has always been a problem. Throws everything 100 MPH. Doesn't have the escape-ability...

It doesn’t take to much for logic to get in the way for some on this board. GBO

For sure. Home Trolls are often driven by the need to project their analysis as physic enhanced, when in fact they display psychotic characteristics. The first clue is the repetitive repackaging of their self defined brilliant positions.

Sadly some really believe in their powers. Others just route their desire to antagonize their targets often starting with small pets and adding targets along the way. Lucky Vol fans, though I have heard every fan base has them.

Thankfully some of us though suspect in athletic analysis are blessed with unerringly fan analysis capabilities and are willing to step up and share. Too bad for them. Perfection can be a burden and you are welcome. :p:p:p

bazooka joe will be just fine against vandy..he's gonna truck those fellows and launch some big big bombs.i'm guessing 455 w 4tds and 135 yds rush w/ 2 tds.
