Milton moving forward

But sure, maybe our up-tempo offense will go out there and impose their will running the ball, since we’ve been doing that all year.

You know Tennessee runs the ball for almost 200 a game right?

Vandy doesn’t have a good run D. Tennessee has all 3 of their backs healthy and ready.

Not saying Tennessee will slow things down to an extreme…….however I would certainly look for them to run even more……and they normally run more than they pass anyway.

And ask yourself how we’re able to do that. Do we line up and ram it down the defense’s throat? Or did we use other pieces of our offense, primarily in the passing game, with a Heisman-caliber QB, strategically to set up the run?

You realize it’s the other way around……right?

That’s why Tennessee runs more than they pass.

Not saying Tennessee is a “power” running team. However they run a lot in order to set up long passes. Not always but usually late in the game Tennessee’s run game can sometimes gap folks because they have been successful and making teams sink coverage and they have been accurate on their long passes…….therefor it opens up running lanes.

However what I’m saying is with Heupel it’s almost always a run first type O…….or run more. Run to open the pass, then the pass will open the run (not run ON first).

Tennessee will have 5 runners available. Tennessee runs it very well.

Vandy is bad at run defense.

Tennessee “will” lean on the run to help Milton. Expect Milton to run. Except more short and long passes and fewer middle passes………but definitely more running.

I’m often wrong……..won’t be nothing if I’m wrong again.

My original point was that simply won’t be as easy because their defense won’t have to fear our passing game. We’re able to run because our passing game is HIGHLY respected. Now it won’t be. Or at least not nearly as much. I feel we’ll need to change some things up, they’re going to key in on certain parts of our offense that we haven’t had to deal with before. Maybe Milton’s arm strength will be enough to keep them honest.

Milton just worried me to death..just have a sinking feeling. Hopefully he proves me wrong but I just don’t think he will ever be a starting qb. Think the moment gets to him way to easy.

this is why I (just me personally) see Milton running more than Hooker normally does. I also expect Milton to take some deep shots early (1st half) just to keep everyone honest. Those deep shots shouldn’t be dangerous so I’d think we would see more of that then mid passes……..at least in the 1st.

No doubt Vandy will key on the run. However that’s the whole success to Heupel’s O……well a majority of it. Spread you out. Run a lot so you have to respect it and then bomb you.

Milton’s not Hooker, however I suspect Heupel’s schemes will still work if Vandy concentrates too much on one aspect.

We just need the D to show up.

I could be WAY off here…….and may be in the vast minority, however I think the D will come in a big way Saturday. The caption wasn’t even there. They all got embarrassed. The entire team was let down and their goal was squashed. I know this D has its limitations………..they ain’t great by any means……..however I firmly believe they will show up big Saturday.

They better show up because Vandy sure would like to add to the pile on. That would make their season for sure

I love Hooker but have been anxious to see what Milton can do as "the man". Pretty confident in him now.

My worry is whether Banks can scheme up a D to stop another terrible O.

Maybe I’ll regret this, but I’ve felt for awhile that he’ll advance the offense when it’s his to run. Was hoping for a full off-season before that theory got proven, of course. We beat Vandy at our worst with Harrison Bailey starting. I’ll worry about matching up to them with MILTON when I’ve finally given up.

Hmmmm

definitely wrong on Milton contributing in the run game. I’m guessing they are being overly protective.

However they did have a great game plan. Run, run and run some more. Throw it deep early and often. Don’t worry about taking chances throwing……just throw it short or deep.

Tennessee wore Vandy out.
