Milton QBR

Nobody was going to live up to Hendo Cinco, Jaylin Hyatt, Ced Tillman and Co. last year. Last year was a special year that doesnt come around often. Everything was clicking on all cylinders and we were boatracing people. Gave us a unrealistic expectation of what a JH offense would look like. Milton is not a journeyman QB like Guarantanno was. Heck he played...
Year 1 Michigan....4 games
Year 2 Michigan....3 games
Year 3 Michigan... 6 games
Year 4 Tennessee...2 games
Year 5 Tennessee...2 games
Current Year............5 games

So all in all he has played a less that 2 seasons in 6 years........Never played a whole season in a year.

This guy has super talent and seems to be getting better as the season goes. If he gets better help at receiver and tight end and this offense starts clicking it could be a wild finish to the year.

The kid behind him needs to sit watch and hit the weight room and he is gonna hopefully a great player for us for years to come, that is unless he struggles and yall will want him to hit the bench for the next shiny recruit.

Lulz. He's beaten no one with a winning record either.

Seriously - did you not check the records before you typed this.

- Clemson had a winning record last year.
- Austin Peay is 3-2. Yes I know who they are but you said "no one with a winning record" and they have one.

South Carolina is 2-3 but many on here acted like they were world beaters before we played them.

We don't need Milton to be Peyton Manning. We need him to hit open receivers when it's there and take off more when the RPO requires him to run. He's not going to read the middle of the field well ever it seems so they avoid it and go to the perimeter with the screens and deep outs, it's what he does best. He's got to turn into more of a runner over this last half of the season or we're going to lose some ballgames..

I'd like to see Joe with some more RPO's even if he only gets 3-4 yards. It keeps the defense honest.
Also WR's are going to have to catch the ball when it hits their hands.

Some plays it has been a poor pass or ball placement. Lord knows it can be said about the Florida interception......

Some plays it's a receiver dropping a ball. Some plays it was the O line not picking up the blitz. Some plays there was a brisk wind that blew the ball off course........

Point being is that there are at least 11 different variables on any given play and it can't ALL rest on one single person or position group. Sometimes the team is out-of-sync, and other times absolute precision is necessary. I'm going to ride the recency bias of how we did in our last game - which was pretty damn good.

Virginia 1-5
APU 3-2
UF 4-2
UTSA 2-3
USC 2-3

12 WINS
15 LOSSES
It is who we have played. The QB has no control over that. Additionally, some of these teams will continue to have more losses than wins and some will have the reverse happen.

An example if you did this same exercise last year after 5 games Hooker would have a victory over a Ball State team with a very good winning record, but they tanked later in the year and ended up 5-7.

This is not intended to be another Milton sucks post. Just looking at the raw numbers. His current QBR ranking is #63: 2023 College Football Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN. For perspective that is well below many other SEC QBs, including Jalen Milroe at Bama which I find funny because everyone thinks Bama does not have a QB this year. Yet the QB they do not have is 23 places above ours. Just a reminder The formula for this rating involves the number of passing yards, touchdowns, pass completions, interceptions and other actions recorded by the player. The highest possible quarterback rating is 100, while the lowest is zero. I guess for those of you who feel our offense is off even though he shows moments of brilliance you really are correct. His production numbers are not competitive with the rest of the conference.

Milton would be a good receiver or tight end option in the NFL.

Joe Milton is NOT, and never will be, “super” talented and he is NOT getting better. He is the same guy that Michigan told to walk.
