Milton Unhaters

Joe has great physical talent. His only drawback is that he processes just a split second too slow. If he can get on a team with a really good offensive line, then he could find some success. Really good guy, and I have a lot of respect for him. We are lucky to have been represented the last 3 years by Joe and Hendon. Very high character individuals that you would want your kids to hang around a be friends with.

Joe had the disadvantage of playing Bama and Florida on the road as well as injuries to Cooper Mays, Bru and Pili. That could be a 1 or 2 game swing in the season record. Oh yes Hiatt could have made a difference too. It will be interesting to see Joe in the NFL and I am pulling for him to make the Patriots look smart with that pick.
You just said it right for me Knox....well said.

You like strirring up drama, tho
There you go, trying to find the right button to push to create drama. He swings, he misses. Then throws a tantrum.
Hill man, try a mountain next time. I'd suggest an active volcano crater. They're natural grills and smokers, I hear.

Joe got the weirdest hate though. At least with Dobbs and JG they were playing. Most of the hate directed at Joe seemed to come during Hookers last season when Joe was on the bench and in the little spot duty he got that year, showed out. 2022 Joe's stats were awesome 65% completion rate 10 td's no ints 4 sacks on 82 attempts and 4.3 ypc on rushing attempts. 204 rating. that year every 8th pass he attempted was a TD. In his whole time at UT he threw 32tds to 5 ints. all 5 ints happened in 2023 when he had serious problems at WR and Oline as far as injuries go. Was 2023 great? Heck no but it was a good season compared to what wed had the past 15 years. Take hookers time and dobbs best seasons off the board and Joes 2023 season is one of the best we have had from a QB compared to the dark days. Joe is 12th all time in TD's and yards for career. He is 35th in ints. hell he is top 25 for rushing TD's INCLUDING RB's

Since Fulmer was fired 4 QBs have put up more tds or yards than Milton 1 threw less int's (Hooker) Other than Hoooker all of them had over 800 attempts to his 497 Hooker had 632. The only Quarterbacks in UT history that attempted more than 8 passes with a higher rating than Milton ...are Hendon Hooker and Johnny Majors (59 attempts). His actual rating is higher than Peytons. Now on no plate in the known universe does that put him in conversation with Peyton or Hooker or Dobbs or Shuler etc. What it should do it make people think hard about how good or bad he actually was. Because his numbers make anyone saying he was a scrub look stupid.

Joe Milton was easily one of the most likeable QB's in UT history. He never whined, always smiled, never quit even when he was quit on, never got in trouble, never brought drama. Joe just got hate from the same people who seemed to spew hate on any highly melanated QB we had.
Most of his stats in 2022 came with no pressure in garbage time. That was the knock on him. He didn't handle pressure well and usually only played great if he had more than a week to prepare for the game. I appreciate everything he did but I'm not going to sit here and act like there wasn't a serious drop-off from Hendon to Joe. Not hating but not glazing either.

The real question is, why drag up his past games? He's not here anymore. My post was, basically, to show how he is perceived in the new era of his life. But i know, some folks, it's impossible for them to be happy for the guy without stomping him some more. But then again, I suppose stomping is kind of fun. It can bring the house down with like-minded folks.

Dude, you converted it into something it wasn't meant to be.

Lol I didn't convert it into anything,

You started another thread about Milton, who as you stated, isn't even here any longer, and you're getting upset that your thread isn't an echo chamber of Milton praise.

BTW, this is what his current QB coach says about him:

This thread is literally rehashing something that didn't need to be rehashed and trying to condemn people for not viewing Milton as something he isn't. Past stats were brought up, I brought up things associated with those stats. Was he the sole reason for every thing that was wrong? No. Was he an amazing QB? No. As I said before, best of luck to him. I hope he does great in the NFL. I'm moving on to hopefully a more successful year with a better offense.

And that's the same criticism leveled against him his entire college career, both at Michigan and at Tennessee.

He's got a rocket arm, but he's deficient in the other areas that make a quarterback "good".
Yes, but why do you keep stomping the guy. My post was focused on the good thing about him now that he's a pro. But you and his other hater just can't stop stomping the guy. You, me, all of us have done something, something, had some failing somewhere in our lives. But imagine at every church attendance, at maybe each of your birthday parties, job interview, anything that in any way is meant to speak well of you, instead people stood up and berated for your past mishaps, behaviors, words, or whatever. Every dayum time. Just imagine that.

While to a degree, I'd say you're correct. The problem is a lot of people confuse criticism with hate.
What do you call it when anytime something nice is said about the guy, the criticizers DRAG UP the Ole Miss. game, and other faults instead of following the theme of nice stuff NOW said of him? What's the motivation of dragging up the old stuff if it's not hate? The motivation for practically Bama-izing and Gatorizing the guy, what is it?

I didn't say they aren't out there. I don't think there are as many of those as there are of people just being honest when people get attacked for saying he wasn't this amazing QB some try to convince everyone he is. I don't have any animosity toward him but I'm not pretending he was a top 10 QB at UT.

I do not believe I've seen even one poster, in all this time, claim that Joe was anything remotely resembling a Peyton 2.0 QB, or even smelling like a great QB. I'm not sure where you got that fantasy from. I spoke to Willow about that, he said, it didn't come from him because he's a fictional character created by ole Shake-a-lance centuries ago. So, uh, umm.... So I really wonder about your source for that claim.

Lol, again, you started this thread.

I'm sorry it didn't turn into the echo chamber that you wanted, but you've been on this site long enough to know better.

No one hates Milton, just not everyone believes he was anything more than what he was when he was here

Might want to look at the post I replied to before you replied to me where he was trying to sell the hell out of his stats
