I thought it did. I left it thinking he's a hateful schmuck who is so jaded by his perception of race relations problems that he can't forgive a simple and quite minor indiscretion.
I'll disagree. That article was typical of the NYT. Makes a lot of claims based on one person without doing any background work, even included an unnamed "source" and screeched about how racist the school was including a college or two.
The author had a perfect opportunity to actually make that case of how petty and immature the actions of the accuser were and how out of control the "woke" culture is getting.
They failed to do so. UT failed to actually take a reasonable stand on the matter as well. The little vindictive b!tch that released the video failed to realize he's screwed himself by trying to act all high and mighty. He'll get his in due time.
Like I say, I think they missed a real opportunity to come out looking thoughtful, reasonable, sensitive but practical and realistic, intellectual, motivated to address important topics, and on and on.
Instead they look afraid.
That part was waaaaaay down in the article. I mean, ok, I somewhat agree that the article tried to cover too many topics: goofy mistake at 15, mean kid uses it to retaliate for his resentments in life, and then why all the resentment in the first place.
But really I thought the meanness of the kid in using it to hurt her like this was far and away the main take away.
How can you use this as a learning/ teaching/ addressing moment when that word is said all the time by black people? If it is so bad and hurtful, why use it? And use it as as badge of honor as they do?

That's a legitimate point and should have been part of the conversation that UT could have promoted as its reaction to the situation. I think its the "run for cover" aspect of their cowering reaction that makes UT look bad here.
LG, I’m surprised at your take on this given your long history of charging racism.
Not many would conduct business in the Oval office butt ass naked. My mistake...you were/are referring to the quote attributed to Johnson by Kessler...fair enough. I had forgotten about this. I can absolutely picture lbj uttering these words.
A fantastically flawed man. Also the last democrat with a brass pair that gave a sh** about the working class

I've asked this question many times on here and never gotten an answer...
If you sat a blind person (from birth) down but had very good hearing. How would anyone explain the "N-word"?
So a white kid likes rap music. What's he's supposed to do? Just go silent when the N-word comes up? Again, answer my question from before...If you sat a blind person (from birth) down but had very good hearing. How would anyone explain the "N-word"?
I answered your question. I’m not sorry if you do not like the answer. Hopefully they do not say the word thanks to the parenting. Doesn’t mean they still won’t be kids and make mistakes.
