Miss Last Year's Offensive Line Now?

I don't know many times last year's starting offensive was described on this site as "underachievers." That was oblivious to the stats showing that group to be one of the very best power conference offensive lines at protecting passer over a two or three year period. (By the way, no one should expect Worley or any quarterback to handle that kind of repeated pasting any better than he did last night.) The run blocking last year wasn't so bad either when you consider that our receivers weren't exactly running wide open and most defenses showed little respect for our passing game.

Well, Ja'Wuan James is the starting RT for Miami, Zack Fulton is the starting LG for Kansas City, undrafted free agent James Stone is listed #2 LG for the Falcons, and the Minnesota Vikings decided Tiny Richardson was worth keeping on the roster at LT in spite of his bad knees. Underachievers?

Miss last year's offensive line now? Considering how many more playmakers we have this year, I sure do. If they had been out there last night, we might have gotten whipped but not by the pass rush.

No not at all. Thanks for asking

No. Very little difference in losing 5 yards to false starts 5 times a game to losing 5 yards in sacks 5 times a game

Yeah the did great against Oregon( what was that score) and Bama and Aubarn,,,,,,,,

Not sure how the offensive line is responsible for our receivers not getting open, our defensive backs leaving the opponents' receivers open, or our defensive front not being able to stop the run. You're picking on the wrong guys. Geez, when James, Fulton, and Stone were freshmen they didn't let our QBs take beatings like Worley had to take.

In what respect were they underachievers? The statistics just don't back that up. The offensive line was our strength last year. Our receiver couldn't get open. Defenses put allot of guys in the box. Our quarterbacks had time to throw and NEVER got beaten down like Worley did last night. The QB injuries last year were thumb injuries for Christ's sake.

If you call them underachievers, you just don't know what you're talking about.

And yet, through three games against better competition than 2013, the stats are quite similar with 2014 even bettering some areas. If I'm wrong to consider them underachieving, you're premature to be pining for them.

I thought we would have problems running the ball and the stats prove it

The Vols are last in the SEC in average yards per carry (3.3)

UT has played 3 legitimate OOC games with a bunch of freshman players and hasn't had the opportunity to pad their stats with the likes of UT Martin, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, etc.

Keep in mind that a young team, like this one, will only continue to get better.

Kind of expected but if we don't get some of these recievers back it'll get worse before it gets better.

This offensive line is as bad as some of you are stupid. I have no idea what their potential might be, but right now they are the worst offensive line I have seen at UT in my life and it isn't even close.

we actually rushed better vs OK(3.4) than the first two teams..but that game was misleading with the sacks and the two long runs
Rushing 112 146

Rushing Attempts
33 34

Yards per rush
3.4 4.3
