Don't let them get you down. They are just wanting to carry the PC flag. But real talk, anybody that doesn't at least think that this was a Muslim hijacking is kidding themselves. They should be suspect #1... it is a well earned reputation.

If someone goes into a school and kills 10+ people, the first thing that would come into my mind is a white male. If a vehicle is carjacked at 2:00 am, the most likely suspect would be a black male. If a restaurant is shut down because they have dogs in the freezer, my first thought would be that it is a Chinese restaurant.

Let's not kid ourselves, folks.

Actually, the first thing I think of when an airliner disappears is that movie about those cats from the future snatching the people out of the airliners about to crash so they can repopulate the earth or whatever. :p

I think the big point here is thing might point to terrorism, but there just isn't enough information right now to make any kind of assumption or judgment.

I think the point is we don't even know it's terrorism. Given that no one is claiming they blew it up, I'd say it's looking less and less likely.

I can concede that point. But again, if we have a situation where a plane is missing and you have 4 passengers with fake passports, is it totally out of line to suspect it to be a terrorist act?

I'm just saying...

No, I think it would be on the list of things to be considered, but perhaps not the only point to investigate. Mechanical failure is certainly another plausible option. While it doesn't happen that often, it does happen as we've seen.

To me, and I'm sure others will correct me, if that airliner was blown up, wouldn't there be floating debris reasonably easy to find? Seat cushions, luggage, bodies, etc. Since it went down (obvious at this point, unless Locke is digging up the Swan as we are speaking) would it be indicative it went down in one piece and sunk?

Not that familiar with aircraft accidents, so that's more of a question to discuss rather than a theory.

That's the debris field from Pan Am 103, which was blown up in the air. Naturally there's some variables as far as altitude, airspeed, and such, but if it exploded in flight I'd assume there'd be various items strewn over a large enough area to have identified something by now.

The previously unheard-of group sent a PDF statement to various journalists in China on March 9, saying, "You kill one of our clan, we will kill 100 of you as pay back."

The majority of Chinese media outlets have expressed skepticism over the statement or dismissed it outright, suggesting it is likely a hoax made up by opportunists looking to inflame ethnic tensions following a series of attacks by separatists in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region and a mass stabbing in the Yunnan capital of Kunming this month that left at least 33 people dead.

Analysts say the credibility of the statement is dubious as the group claiming responsibility for flight MH370 did not divulge any details as to how it crashed the plane. The PDF statement was also sent via the encrypted Hushmail anonymous remailer service which cannot be replied to or easily traced.

I don't know. I started reading the article and the part I quoted was the first 4 paragraphs which dis credited the group's claim. I think VM reads the headlines of articles and post them without reading the actual piece.

what makes you think that? For me it's that there was no distress call and no warning (at least none have been released). Maybe a gay Muslim Chinesemen got jumpy and dropped the plunger a bit early but I just don't buy blowing it up before screaming crazy threats to everyone on board.
