For 1 year he was his OC. Does that make Tee Martin from the Randy Sanders coaching tree?

depends on what offensive philosophies he incorporated from RS

my point is that ML recruited JH and his offensive philosophy is exhibited in JHs

I like Leach but his teams have a tendency to underperformed at times.
Leach also has only ever coached at "little brother" programs. He won at least 8 games 8 out of 10 years at Texas Tech and 4 out of 8 years at Washington St. A lot of people were quick to point out his poor record against Washington while he was at Washington St, and it was bad, but look at the record in that series all time. They've played that game 113 times and Washington St has only won 33 of them. No Washington St coach has ever had success against Washington, not just Leach.

He wins games he isn't expected to and loses games he isn't expected to. Miss St is OK with that, because historically they don't win many games they aren't expected to.

Leach isn't a championship level coach. He's a good coach with an entertaining personality. His teams tend to be inconsistent.

I don't think he is either, but honestly it cannot be known for sure until he coaches at a school capable of winning them (which will never happen). Nick Saban would not win conference or national titles at Texas Tech, Washington St, or Miss St, much less Leach.

I just think back to his time at Washington state when he would upset a good team one week and then lose to an fcs team the next week.

It's better than Washington St's typical historical performances, which is to get blown out by a good team one week and then to also lose to a bad team the next week.

He plays kind of a gimmicky brand of offense and is a quirky guy, which I think leads to inconsistent performances. He also has only coached at schools where it is hard to recruit, so he never has a talent advantage.

Like I said, I think Leach is a good coach but he's not a championship level coach.

LSU dominated the 2nd half from what I saw. Their DL really pressured Rogers.
Both sides of the line were controlled by LSU. That was the whole game in a nutshell. MSU has some talent, but they look suspect in the trenches against a formidable opponent like LSU.

That said, there were some critical mistakes that took MSU out of the game. The muffed punt was the turning point for sure. The dropped passes were not typical for State either. If they can play a game without those type of errors, they definitely have the potential to win against most of their remaining opponents.

LSU on the other hand looked very strong and they should also be in every game the rest of the way. UT will definitely have a fight on their hands when they travel to LSU in a few weeks. The Vols O line has to protect Hooker and the defense has to stop the QB run, something I have been having nightmares about since the Ole Miss game last year.

Anyway, UF is up next, so the LSU game is not something that needs too much discussion at this point.

Go Vols!

Well someone has beaten saban. Leach chokes against Kentucky again
I hadn't watched it when I made that comment in the other thread. Just turned it off. I'll give you that one. Miss St looked pretty bad in that one.

UK is a good team, but UT should not have nearly the same kind of trouble with them.
