Mississippians have a problem with interracial marriage (Duh)

PPP surveyed 400 usual Mississippi Republican primary voters from March 24th
The survey’s margin of error is +/-4.9%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed
and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

ask the same question to an equal number of Mississippi democrats and you'd probably get a similar percentage

resistance to interracial marriages isn't a problem exclusive to white people or republicans, just ask Louis Farrakhan.

An argument could be made, based on your cited portion, that the real number is much higher, and that when some were asked about it and realized that they and their state would be mocked by the results of the survey, declined to participate.

There could be huge sampling errors (was it random sampling, is there selection bias). A 400 observation survey representative of a population of 500,000+ is likely to be flawed.

so good of you to completely ignore my larger point that resistance to interracial marriage is by no means a problem exclusively with 46% of Mississippi republicans (allegedly).

Didn't catch that this was your point, but of course you are right on that.

Perhaps, but as he said, it is hardly something that is limited to republicans or whites.

I honestly have a hard time believing this number is that high, but the responses in this thread seem to indicate otherwise.

The only reason I tend to believe the number is because it is Mississippi. Still skeptical.

It wouldn't seem as hard to believe if it said that percentage thought marriage should be kept inside the same race, but it's much harder to believe that 46% simply want to make it illegal.

Oh, I don't believe the illegal part.

I find Indian (not so much Native American) women very attractive for some reason. Maybe it's the exotic thing...

Howsabout that nice slice on Slumdog Millionaire?

All I gleaned from the article is that they managed to find a couple hundred registered Republicans in the state of Mississippi who want to outlaw interracial marriage. I don't find that very shocking.
