Missouri coming to the East Division

How the hell does this make sense?

Read yesterday that the average distance from Mizzou to SEC East schools is something like 615 miles, and average distance to SEC West schools is 685. It's not that much different. As someone who lived there for a year, I can assure you that Missouri is a long way from everywhere.

Yep...the good news is that we almost certainly won't play there until 2013. This is assuming the league wants as little friction as possible when ironing out the new schedule (i.e., not playing the same team on the road two years in a row).

This year we have 3 East teams at home and 2 on the road. Flip that around in 2012, and Mizzou slides in to become our third East home game.

All Missouri represents to me is another easy SEC win...which is a good thing.

Now there was a time when I was worried about them putting Mizzou in the west and moving Auburn into the eastern division which means we would have lost the annual rivalry with Alabama and had to compete with a talented Auburn team for the eastern crown in years to come.

Now that it has been announced that Mizzou will join the east I like this move.

Another? We are currently one of two teams with no SEC wins and Missouri would most likely steamroll our current team. It is pure ignorance if you think we are adding another Kentucky.

They'll be somewhere in the middle in the east. Not as bad as vandy or UK, not as good as uga or uf.

Missouri will be a factor in the East about like Arkansas (historically) is in the west ... every few years they are really good, then down for a few years.

Except for the past few years at Arky, since they hired a pretty good coach. Seems like they're pretty good every year now.

Tennessee should be better than Missouri next year. Hopefully we keep MSU on the schedule because we'll be better than they are, too.

Yeah would rather not play arky again

Ideally would be fine with miss St or ole miss

Just wanted to chime in with a Mizzou perspective -

We know that Missouri is not in the Southeast. That being said, we are very much looking forward to joining what has been the best conference for awhile now.

I completely disagree that Mizzou becomes another Kentucky for the conference. We are 4-5 this year with what Sagarin has had us as the #1 toughest schedule (3 as of this week, it looks like). We have a brand new QB and a very young team overall.

The general consensus seems to be that A$M is a good add, but Missouri is not. A$M has tradition and a much better stadium, but our coach is 5-1 against them.

Mizzou is atrocious on D but has a legitimate offense. I am biased but I would think MU would be favored against UK, TN, Vandy and A$M next year (assuming they are the cross-divisional rival). We've done great against SEC teams the past decade but we haven't played very good teams.

Our team is not used to the SEC atmosphere though, are there is no telling how that will affect their play on the field.

All that being said, season tickets will most definitely skyrocket and the rumor is a stadium expansion is in the works.

Welcome to the board. I hope Mizzou turns out to be a better fit than many here seem to think they will. I think they're not necessarily the first school the SEC would have preferred to add, but they're not without some merits. Come to think of it, the SEC probably wouldn't have been Missouri's first choice either.:hi:
