Missouri coming to the East Division

Confusing:

Missouri to SEC is done deal - College Football - Rivals.com

The SEC released a statement saying the conference’s presidents and chancellors acted unanimously, and Missouri will join the league effective July 1, 2012.

But then

But despite what the SEC and Big 12 plan, the Big East still will have a say in when Missouri and West Virginia will be allowed to start competing in their new conference homes.
. . .
It’s possible Missouri could be stuck in the Big 12 until West Virginia can depart from the Big East.

???

Why do they announce a date if there are still uncertainties that could thwart it?

Alabama wouldn't have been convinced to vote on it otherwise...this is likely a move that wouldn't have happened without across the board agreement

Still waiting for an official annoucement. I agree Missouri to the East is likely but nothing official has been said. Alabama's decisions don't control this league. Auburn wants to go to the East too. Not getting in an argument, I agree with you, just waiting for the word.

The same reason that the big 12 announced that wvu would be playing in the big 12 next season

And it's not that it will be thwarted, but that there's still the possibility that it could be next year rather than this year (all this from Andy Katz)

But more than likely wvu's suit will end in a "they pay the conference X amount in damages and leave"...it'd be very out of the blue for a court to say "the big east has the right to force you to play there for another 1-2 years"

Right but lsu and UT were also on that boat with bama...same with ole miss for some reason

But yes I get and agree with your point, it's not like Alabama controls the conference

So will we lose the NC state game next year or Akron or Troy?

This sux. The expansion stuff sux. Missouri sux.
I could have maybe seen NC state. This is robbing the SEC of its identity.

Why? 6 other eastern games and 3 west games? Thats 9 conference games. That what it will be.
Coaches don't want 9 conference games yet, so it will still be 8 for the time being (though a change to 9 will have to come in the next 7-8 years or so, every other conference will have by then)

For now however there will just be 8 conference games with Missouri taking the place of one of our 3 sec west opponents (not Alabama though, UT-bama will still remain)

Well, my last post in this thread, but at least I admit that my team sucks. I just don't get the delusion and arrogance of fans who think that dominance over a crappy team for 26 years is something to crow about. Congrats- you've beaten a cupcake 26 years in a row. Most of those years, you SHOULD have beaten them.

And just how many SEC championship games has KY jelly been to in football? You, Vandy, and Ole Miss have never been there, and probably never will be. Missouri coming into the East just means that you or Vandy will drop down to the 6th and 7th place teams in the East. Enjoy your born heritage as a bottom feeder.

Just another stadium to see Tennessee play in before I die. If the SEC expands any further, this could take forever. :)

Welcome Mizzou.

Enjoy fighting with Vandy and Kentucky for the bottom of the East every year.
