Missouri to sec west

North: Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Vandy, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss
South: Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miss St, Georgia, Texas A&M

Might be the most imbalanced division in the history of college football.

At least we would make it to the championship game every year. lol

[EDIT: I forgot South Carolina is actually good now. My bad.]

Your statement just proves how fertile the deep south talent fields really are

They're not getting rid of the TSIO. No way.

Oklahoma and Nebraska fans said the same thing when they put the Big 12 together. It didn't work out that way. Realignment and scheduling is going to be a mess; not everybody's going to get what they want.

It's kind of an ominous sign that the Birmingham news article on al.com that supposedly broke this story talks about Auburn moving east and playing Alabama every year, but doesn't mention that Alabama would then lose the UT game. Makes you wonder whether the Third Saturday is a big enough deal in Alabama anymore for them to push hard for it.

How about changing the East-West to a non-geographical alignment? I sort of like the Rednecks and the Hillbilly divisions.

The most winningest programs in the SEC do battle on the third saturday in october why would they end and who will we play from the west every year

The way things are going with the major shake ups in college football, I wouldn't be surprised to see the sec add 4 more teams. I absolutely hate what's happening right now but if the pac 12 and acc ends up with 16 teams and big 12 and big east join then how does the sec not follow suit? Just from a money and recruiting standpoint we would almost be forced to. If that happens then there would likely be 4 pods like pac 12 has proposed. In the long run you would theoretically see some type of conference playoff between the top four or maybe even have 2 wildcards added to determine conference champions. Things just aren't ever going to be the same. Again I don't agree with it but that's what may lie ahead in the near future. It just comes down now to who geographically makes since and who can bring the most money to the conference coffers. The sec for once is playing catch up to the rest of the country now. Please share your thoughts on any of the subjects I've raised and be gentle lol. GO VOLS!!!!

I hate this. If Alabama vs. Tennessee is taken away for the sake of some mediocre program that doesn't even geographically belong in the SEC, I'll be pissed. I would have much rather tried to make a run at a good ACC program or try to pick up South Florida, which is an on-the-rise program. Texas A&M is a move I understand; it's in the South, offers a great opportunity for a big market, and can be a recruiting selling point in the best football state in the country. The only ones who really benefit from this are Missouri themselves.

This is what matters - not geography. I can see the Sec going to SEC, but I think they take a step to 14 first for a year or two. I don't think the SEC takes a 4 team step all at once. The SEC seems to take a slower approach where they make sure all t's are crossed and i's are dotted before making a decision. Other conferences are making a decision out of a reaction and worrying about it later.

College football is no longer pure (not that it ever truly was) money trumps tradition unfortunately. The old traditional SEC is done in due time. I use to prefer college to pro football but they are about on the same level with both being ruled by the almighty dollar.

You make a very valid point. The sec can prosper with 14 teams. I just wonder if the powers that see dollar signs over quality. Would be hard not to

With every tradition lost, a new one takes it's place.

I don't disagree, but Tennessee-Alabama has been the biggest day on the sports calendar in my family for probably 70-75 years. This is a game I've watched with my great-grandfather, my grandfather, my father, and now my son. It makes me sick to think that game might vanish because Mike Slive is so desperate to add TV sets in Houston and St. Louis.
