Mistakes a coincidence or something more?

I will have to go back to the beginning of this thread and say that I have never seen so much consistent screwing up on a Tennessee team.

I sometimes question a few things myself.

Please explain "consistent screwing up". Our offense (the last 5 years) has been nearly as productive as it had in the past. The offsensive decline hasn't been steady, it's been a landslide!!!

The screwing up hasn't affected our ability to score points until this year. So you're gonna have to face it and admit that the defense has had just as many problems in recent years as the offense. It's an OVERALL problem.

The offense just happens to be what's wrong THIS year. The last 3 years or so, the defense hasn't been good.

you don't know what your talking about. They provide stats and videos of the kids. There is a lot more to it than what you think. They spend days and weeks on the road watching these kids in person and on video. They pay for videos of games where highly ranked kids are playing.
If what you say is true then how do you explain when a kid is not in the RIVALS 100 but still get recruited by a UT type school? They get signed and never get a star. How do you explain that?
Look it is not perfect or 100%. But you look at the top ten teams year in and year out and they ALMOST ALWAYS have a top ten recruting class. How do you explain that?
I think you are a conspiracy kook.

Jamal Lewis was a very highly ranked kid. According to you that must have just been luck.

You're obviously a shill for the services. Colleges get the vast majority of their recruiting game films from , shock, the HIGH SCHOOLS THEMSELVES. So, by your theory, if someone goes around watching something, they become an expert. Of course the recruiting guys spend all this time traveling, they don't have real jobs. All they do is convince people who don't have faith in their own opinions to buy their product. The best way to rate a recruiting class is by checking their production three years later.

3 years later is a little to late to sign them for your team. Unless your bammer.

Still yet, can you explain why the schools that rate in the top ten recruiting almost always finish in the top ten in the polls?

Volbeef, what I'm saying is that the concept of rating recruits before they've ever played a down in college is silly and a waste of time. Of course the top ten classes do well. Anyone with eyes can generally spot the elite players. If you need a recruiting analyst to tell you that Jamal Lewis or Peyton Manning are great players, you probably should take up watching soccer. Those schools you mentioned also have the best facilities, which in turn draw the best players. You act as if these recruitniks have tapped into some magic information that mere mortals can't access. They compile stats? That's a real feat. Those are printed in local newspapers.

Well I don't get all of the local papers. Plus I enjoy watching the clips of the kids we are recruiting.

Volbeef, I apologize if it seems I'm attacking you. My problem is with many of these "experts", some of whom I know, that behave as if they invented oxygen. They provide a good sevice in compiling data. I just don't buy into their rankings. I am certain you have forgotten more football than Allen Wallace and a couple of other "gurus" know.

Please tell me who they are. Our offensive line is devoid of talent. Riggs and Foster are both plodders. Meachum is the only receiver that really has an NFL body. I won't even address our QB debacle.

Are you kidding? Every one of our receivers have NFL bodies. UT not having any talent on offense is news to me...and the rest of the college football world.

Keep thinking there's no talent shortage at UT. It will all be better with a new OC. Also, we don't win squat in '98 if Jamal doesn't carry the team at Syracuse and Auburn. You obviously have trouble grasping an obvious point. Our decline is due to diminishing talent. The NFL is a pretty good place to look to find out what kind of talent a program produces. Guys like Wuerffel can hide in a system in college, but the League exposes them. Also, where Terrel Davis is concerned, what back hasn't put up huge numbers in Denver's system? For God's sake Mike Anderson and Quentin Griffin put up big numbers for the Broncos.

So virtually every pre-season mag and analyst was wrong when they all proclaimed that UT was one of the most talented teams in the country coming into the season? There have been a couple of recent years when we were down in the talent department, but this is not one.

Tarzan bodies, Jane production. The main skill a receiver must posess is the ability to actually catch the football. Let's see how many of those workout warriors see the field in the NFL.

And the intelligence community was wrong about WMDs in Iraq. As shocking as this may be to you, simply having a public stage for one's opinions doesn't make them infallable.

UT doesn't just have plenty of talent...we have too much.

Lord almighty, think South Carolina has more talent then us? HA!
