Mitt at the NAACP

He could have done a better job. Calling it "Obamacare" was stupid.

He should have stated up front that there is probably disagreement between his views on the healthcare bill and the NAACP, and appreciates the opportunities to highlight the differences and make his case. Calling the bill by its official name, rationally stating why he thinks it would be bad, and stating how his ideas would be better would have been the better course of action. Nobody saying he has to pander, but there was a better way to handle it.

He wasn't going to win many votes, everybody knows that. But he could have refrained from the right wing euphanisms and stated his case better. IMO, that would have been more presidential.

Agreed

Not sure if anyone saw the interview on O'Reilly with an NAACP spokesperson - it was mindblowing. He accused Romney of intentionally not "tailoring" his talk to the audience. Basically, he wanted pandering and didn't feel he got it. The underlying message being floated now by them, Pelosi and others is that Mitt intentionally talked about "white" issues to gin up the racist vote.

Unbelievable - what a morally bankrupt organization.

I think the context and wording of his speech was poorly chosen.

The white issue crap is ridiculous. The problem with moving forward with race in this country is because idiots keep using it as bait and wedging issue.

I get the part about using Obamacare instead of ACA - but he talked much about school choice, opportunity etc., job creation. Where did you see the poor choices besides Obamacare?

Mostly I was referring to the Obamacare portion.

it also suggests that the representative didn't watch the speech or read the transcript. Romney specifically addressed the impact that Obama's policies have had on the black community.

This cuts both ways.

On Fox yesterday, Romney said he in fact expected the booing when he talked about the ACA.

Think about that.

He went there to try to court their vote and said something he knew would get that reaction? Why do that?

I can think of only one reason, and its to just pander to his own base by using the NAACP as a foil to try to differentiate himself and how own health care plan to Obama's. There is no other rational explanation.

he took Romney's proposal to tie Federal education dollars to the student rather than the community as a plan to completely replace public education with vouchers and charter schools... he was adamant that Romney's plan was to do away with public education. moron.

Its the most significant part of his campaign. Is he supposed to ignore it when talking to people that have a different opinion?

don't go speak = racist
give speech and don't pander = racist
give speech and pander = racist

how would Romney ever win? And would anything he could ever say actually make a bit of difference in their vote?

If he was there to try to actually bridge the gap between the GOP and the black community, there are about a million ways to say he opposes the ACA without phrasing it the way he did.

He said what he said expecting the reaction he got. Remarkable.

LOL.

It was literally the first time in Mitt Romney's campaign that he did not change or posture what he was going to say in an effort to pander to his audience.

Mitt Romney panders by etch-a-sketching his message to every single person he talks to in this campaign.

The one time he doesn't? And he expects to get booed?

So obvious.

you are still acting like anything he said would make a difference in how they would vote. Better to stay on message than to try and get votes that aren't available.

Seems to me that his message has been pretty consistent on this issue

Honestly, do you believe the bs?

Furthermore, you are at the age for prostate cancer.

As to the first comment, all politicians bs. Obama does, too. Look at the other thread on Bain. I agree with everyone saying the Obama campaigner was way out of line implying that Romney committed some crime on the SEC filing.

As to your second comment, I'm really not sure what you mean to say there. Do you mean to say you hope I get prostate cancer?
