MLB cancels ASG in Atlanta

Under current law, key issues in election management — including decisions on disqualifying ballots and voter eligibility — are made by county boards of election. The new law allows the State Board of Elections to determine that these county boards are performing poorly, replacing the entire board with an administrator chosen at the state level.

At the same time, the bill enhances the General Assembly’s control over the state board.

It removes Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican who famously stood up to Trump’s attempts to overturn the election results in Georgia, from his role as both chair and voting member of the board. The new chair would be appointed by the legislature, which already appoints two members of the five-person board — meaning that a full majority of the board will now be appointed by the Republican-dominated body.

I fail to see the problem - it goes from a political appointee of the party holding the Governor's office to a board that has representation from multiple parties.

What? It goes from being an elected official to being a political appointee.

To be honest if this GA (R) Governor was a Democratic Governor & put the "exact same policies" in there would be no crying big sour grapes gator tears from anyone..... especially Luthervol. Wouldn't hear a peep of a complaint from any Democrat because they are a cult and they go along with what they are told to do. Can't think for one's self.

everyone has a county registrar which is where you can get a free state ID.
A State of Georgia ID Card may be obtained at any DDS Customer Service Center. The cost of this card varies depending on the type of card obtained.

I was mistaken in thinking the SOS is appointed. How often is the SOS from the party other than the governor in GA?
Our SOS was the very thing that kept GA from going off the rails with the Trump election nonsense. If we would have been under the new law, we would have flown off the rails.

Hasn’t been a Democratic Governor in GA since Zell Miller in the early 90s. I think we’ve had at least a couple of Democratic SOS since then.

You took an uninformed and stupid position and now have spent hours moving the bar and continually getting educated. At some point just realize your original stupid mistake.

So even though the rules actually expand voter access that doesn't matter because you believe the unspoken motives of the people who increased that access was to reduce access.

This is what happens when the facts go against you - invent nefarious motives and attack the invention.

Yeah, sure. The GOP did this to expand voting opportunities for minorities.

Uh huh.

Right.

The Governor and SOS have been saying basically the same thing all along.
