Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia became the 31st Major League pitcher with 2,500 career strikeouts today, and leads all active pitchers in career strikeouts.
Its almost that time.
The moment that all Houston Astros fans have been waiting for will be happening but its just a matter of when.
We had all been wondering when it would be but we finally have a tentative date.
According to the Houston Chronicles Jose de Jesus Ortiz, Carlos Correa could be called as early as the start of the series against the Chicago White Sox which is a three-game set starting tomorrow night at U.S. Cellular Field.
This is fantastic news for us fans and its quite understandable.
Why?
Marwin Gonzalez and Jonathan Villar, the two guys currently in the rotation, havent been getting it done at short stop and in order for the Astros to maintain their leadership in the AL, they must continue to find innovative ways to stay fresh and ahead of the curve.
Jed Lowrie is still expected to be out while he recovers from thumb surgery after getting injured back in April.
David OrtizHow many players you think have been anywhere close to his size? Randy Johnson was taller but weighed a lot less. Frank Thomas was pretty large but still 2 inches shorter and 15 pounds less than CC. Fielder is 275 but only 6 foot. In terms of bulk, that probably makes him larger than CC I assume but still, Sabathia is bigger overall. Dude is huge. Maybe you won't have much of a problem thinking of large players but I for the life of me am struggling to think of players that size throughout MLB history.

After already showing that last years leg injury was well behind him in spring training, Correa arrives already having delivered a 1.006 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A, with a .332/.404/.602 line that includes 10 homers and 18 steals in 19 attempts. As far as more happy stats, he was walking in better than 10 percent of his at-bats while striking out just 16 percent of the time. At 20, hell be the youngest player in the AL, having already demonstrated that he wasnt overmatched against more advanced breaking stuff at Triple-A -- where he was almost seven years younger than the average player.
