MLB Game Thread

Zack Greinke: 43 2/3 scoreless innings, the longest streak by a pitcher since Orel Hershiser's record 59 in 1988.

Aroldis Chapman now holds MLB record as quickest to throw 500 strikeouts. He reached milestone in 292 IP.

Tonight was the 24th time Albert Pujols and Mike Trout homered in the same game. Since they became teammates in 2012, no teammates have homered in the same game more often than those two.

Cole Hamels has a no-no going into the 9th inning.

Definitely wouldn't want the Astros to cough up his price tag now lol.

Hope he can close it out. Especially since it's against the Cubbies :)

WOW!!!

With the final out, almost a home run to center field and the center fielder slipped and fell and caught it while laying on the ground... wow!

Red Sox about to lose again for the 8th time a row is it? That's good for your Yankees.

I like it too because I don't like the Red Sox.

The Sox are in last place anyway. I'm more concerned with the other 3 teams in the East.

I do enjoy seeing them suck though :)

Worth noting: On this date three years ago, Cole Hamels signed a six-year, $144 million contract with the Phillies.

I guess the Red Sox had won a game after losing like 7 in a row so they're not on an 8 game losing streak like I thought. I also thought they were closer to the middle of the pack chasing the Yankees but they're actually in last ha, good.

Here's the final out for Hamels no-no. Watching it live... when he started slipping I thought wow, this is gonna be a hit. Awesome that he was still able to grab it.

Randy Johnson & Pedro Martínez: only pitchers to win Cy Young Award in same season (1999 and 2000) & be inducted in same Hall of Fame class.

Cubs catcher David Ross took the mound in the 9th as his team trailed the Phillies 11-4, and he pitched a 1-2-3 frame. He also had a 1-2-3 inning vs. the Brewers on May 9 in his only other career appearance. Ross is the first position player with multiple appearances in a season for the Cubs since Doug Dascenzo (1991).

Correa made an awesome defensive play the other day against the Royals by making an insane throw to get the out at 1st. He's made some pretty insane plays in a short period of time.

Here's another awesome defensive play that he had to leap to grab a liner that would go over most's head. The advantage of being 6'4 and athletic...

Here's an entire highlight video that came out a few days ago. Has the second video in it but play in the first link happened after the video was made.

I love Correa's stance and swing, it's pretty.

Astros just swept the Angels in a 3 game series to take/keep 1st place with a 3 run home run.

Astros had 2 on with 2 outs with Castro up to bat in the bottom of the 9th. He's one of the Astros worst hitter. He won with a walk off home run.

Correa hit 2 more home runs tonight.

He's had half as many bats as the rest of shortstops leading the league and he already has 12.

He's 4th behind Troy Tulowitzki who has 13 and Brandon Crawford/Jhonny Peralta who have 16.

For 20 years old, this kid is good. He's also batting .300

Correa just hit a 2 run home run in the 1st inning against the Rangers. Suck the Astros D Hamels. He refused the Astros trade but went to the Rangers in Texas lol.

Correa since being called up leads the American League in extra bases on hits. Youngest player in MLB has been insane. He's flying a under the radar compared to Trout or Harper when they entered the league and the hype surrounding them but he's ranked 7th in slugging percentage overall. Maybe moved up now. Triple Crown Miggy was 6th. Correa is insanely good for 20 and a short stop. Both on offense and defense.
