MLB Playoffs

The foul ball that Jim Edmonds hit towards the end of the game, right before his deep pop up to centerfield. It really looked like I saw white chalk spray up in the air after it hit the ground. If that did happen, it meant that the ball hit the line and should be a fair ball.

As most know, I'm not a Cubs fan. However I hate the Dodgers more I think. I'm just saying I thought I saw a cloud of white dust and the ball should have been fair.

A friggin shot.

I thought it was an easy pop fly then it landed about 30 rows up.

Yes, he pretty much got a tad fooled but was still good enough to keep his hands back and then threw them at the ball. He absolutely used no legs at all and still hit it that far. Very impressive. Also goes to show you how strong he is.

oh ok.

i thought you were talking about something in the batters box.

i thought the ball was also fair, but i doubt it would have helped much at the time.

I would expect that from Vladimir but not Manny. It was impressive.

maybe not, but it likely would've scored Soto and Edmonds would have been at second. Still a long way to go, but it would have gotten some momentum. Even if it's just momentum for today.

I think it was foul as well. Manny's homer off his shoes was sick.:frown:

Maybe Z can get them going tonight. With Z and then Harden in LA, they can get it back to Wrigley. Here's hoping.

When did Harden last throw? I would have assumed they would have tried to set him up with Z to go games 1 and 2.

Lou wanted to go with Dumpster because of his home record this year, in game 1.

we should win both the next two games with our guys, but in typical Cubs fashion, we'll blow it.

It had more to do with Dempster's record at home and Harden's record on the road. Dempster is not very good on the road and Harden's stuff is good anywhere.

I do think Z should have started game 1 anyway. Game 2 is the must win game and I'm guessing Lou didn't want Dempster in that situation.

Dempster just left way too many pitches high. Once the Dodgers saw it once or twice, they were able to kill him for it. However, Manny going down and getting that pitch was unreal. As ATL said, he used absolutely no legs on that shot and just had so much power through his upper body to wait on it and blast it.

or they layed off of it and took the walk.

then he grooved one with a 1-2 count and 2 outs. idiot.

laying off those high pitches was part of killing him. No team will win a playoff game if the starter gives up 7 BBs

i have less of a problem with my starting pitcher just plain getting shelled.

but when you load the bases on walks, and then give up the grand slam, it makes me want to kill myself.

correct me if I'm wrong, I know he did it once, but it may not have been the same inning, but weren't two of those walks with an 0-2 count to begin with?

I looked it up and it's not the time I recall. He walked Lowe after getting an 0-2 count, then walked Furcal after getting an 0-2 in the top of the 3rd.

It's never good to walk a pitcher. It's just plain bad to walk a pitcher after he gets in an 0-2 hole.
