MLB Playoffs

What sealed it for me was seeing the angle that showed that Varitek's glove hit the runner squarely on the ass, bounce back up in the air after the tag -- still with the ball held securely held in it -- and only then did it hit the ground, knocking the ball out. The tag was clearly already over before the glove hit the ground.

exactly. Because in the sliding over third base scenario, the runner is still credited for reaching third base. He's out after that fact. It's two different sequences all in one "play". The tag was made, baseball moves were made after the fact (albeit, not much) and then the ground caused him to drop the ball.

we have kotsay (sp) is he pretty good?

Eh, he's alright. Nothing to write home about. He plays hard and with heart if nothing else. I like that about him. If you make it to the World Series, he'll come in handy when playing in the NL field for a pinch hitter for the pitcher.

He has postseason experience, so that's good.
